Ok guys got a few baby photoshoot coming and just wondering which lens or lens's i'd be better of using, to my diposal i have a canon 24-70 2.8 L, canon 85mm 1.8, canon 50mm 1.8. Any idea's would be apprieciated. Will be using on my 5d mk2.

Thanks Andy

If it helps, I use my 24-70 2.8 and 85 1.4 for 99.9% of my baby shots. With 80-200 2.8 for the other 0.1% on FF.
As said it does rather depend on what you are doing... Candid natural shots, studio, close up etc etc but the above lenses do everything for me.

You should be able to control the shoot so go prime for maximum quality. 85mm definitely unless space is an issue :)

85mm or 50mm would be my weapons of choice

Les :D

85mm for me; but you can rest assured you've got all the bases covered. Primes are preferable but as above, just wait and see when you get there what suits your style the most.

I find "which is best" questions like this a bit difficult to respond to. It all depends on what images you are aiming at.

Show us photos you like and we can tell you how they were done. I have seen beautiful baby images shot with 24mm lenses and 200mm lenses. At F11 and F1.2. It all depends on what you see in your head.

One of the ways we can test ourselves is by looking at the difference between the image we see in our head before we click the shutter and the image we end up with.
