I've happily watched what little TV I watch on a Panny 14" portable TV for the last 3 or 4 years.

But now I'm working a few more hours and can afford a few little luxury's, I've decided I'm going to buy a 22" LCD TV.

I've seen this one on Amazon, LINK Looks like a good buy to me, but what do you reckon ? Is there anything better out there for £200 or less. ?

You need to ask this over on the avforums - that's where I got loads of info before I got my plasma. There's a dedicated forum for TVs, LCDs etc.

Thanks for the suggestion py6km, but I'm not sure I need specialist advice, its only a smallish TV for watching top gear on Sundays, and maybe an hour or 2 the rest of the week.

Just wondered if anyone had seen any great offers anywhere recently.

If the picture quality looks good in your eyes and it does what you need it to and it is of a good price then buy it ;) Dont get sucked in too much with the tech side of things. I have a 42" Sammy and it is as good as I expected it to be.
Enjoy!!

I have that very TV and use it as a second monitor as well. It's fine, good picture quality as a TV set, does digital and analogue, as well as having hdmi and a pc input as well. At £199 it's a bargain, I think I paid £279 for mine about a year ago.

You'll have fun trying to find the on off switch the first time you use it ;:D

Ha ha, I've just been into curry's to weigh it up.

The picture looked far better than the sets alongside it so I think I'll just get one off Amazon. Was £289 in Currys.

Yes, I figured the on/off button easily, but can see what you mean.

Thanks !

I just bought the samsung T220HD from ebuyer @ £189.99 inc postage :D

I'm using it as a PC display on my Laptop (analog), PC display on my backup PC (DVI) and minigubs Xbox360 (HDMI)

Multi inputs are usefull ;)

Ooh, thanks for that link !

I recently bought an external HD from ebuyer and was most impressed with service etc....

If I can save another tenner then thats

How can currys/dixons etc sell any sets when they're knocking the same model out for £100 more. Guess some people are still happier buying in a store and are a bit afraid of online purchasing.

Have a look at Richer Sounds' website and see what they've got and what they're charging. Picked up a couple of 19" Sonys for £179 each a little while back - may be last year's model but they'll do me fine for many years.

Try the sound, my granny has that set and the sound is reasonable, but nothing special. Sonys will have better sound but seem a little overpriced otherwise.

Well, I've ordered the Sammy T220HD from ebuyer !

Sound aint really an issue, it'll be in the same room as the hifi so if its really that bad, I'll plug it into that.

Also took the opportunity to order a laser mouse for me PC. Logitech one for a tenner !

Thanks for the advice chaps !

To save you going mad (I did) the headphone socket & 2nd HDMI connector is hidden under a flap on the left hand side of the screen bezel :D

I have mine connected to a pair of small pc speakers via the headphone socket, it's a bedroom tv as well and the speakers are situated above the headboard so that I can watch tv without disturbing others.

Just bought a Samsung 50" LCD tv for €700 over in Germany - the same thing cost about €2500 before I went to Iraq in May last year...
Screen is a bit reflective compared to the old 42" TV we had, but I can live with it for that price...

My 22" Sammy landed at 06:55 this morning !

YES 0655. AM........

Parcel Force have just gone up a little bit in my estimation ! Would have missed him had he come at a 'normal' time !

I'm really impressed with the picture quality, but have to say, the sound is a bit sh__.

22" is big enough for me too. The set is about 8 or 9 foot away from the sofa and I can see it perfectly well...... I dont like big tellys.

Mother and Father just bought the Samsung advertised on the currys adverts recently. But I say GET A BIG ONE!!

samsung have a ghey speaker arrangement where the speakers are down firing. It means they can have swish smooth bezel on tv, but it makes the sound poor.

I have a wee 23" Sammy in the bedroom, it's a cracking picture....not quite upto the detail in the plasma downstairs but much much better than I was expecting :)

It does seem to have a rather random issue with the ghey blue light in the bottom of the bezel.....in that it comes on on it's own !!!

It's done it a few times now, and crikey it's bright at night!

Black pvc tape :)

Very true but Saturn (German Dixons) were doing a deal on the Home-Cinema turbo-nutter speakers...i.e. free if you buy the 50" Samsung...
mmm...Free...my favourite price...

I now watch 'The Battle of Britain' at uber-high volume to remind the neighbours who won...:D

"Rabbit Leader to Cowslip control...dakka-dakka-dakka-dakka..."
