I don't think you've thought it through! Small dogs can be every bit as much fun or more!

1] I actually like small dogs. The ones that if you want to go left and they want to go right, you go left! More than that, there's the kindness that when they're old and arthritic [apart from the fact that small dogs tend to live longer and often stay healthier longer] they need less exercise and when they're really infirm you can help them much more effectively and carry them out to the garden and around the place!

4] The same curly haired Yorkie-Poodle-cross needed a trip to the grooming parlour every so often. Do you have any idea how preferable it is to have a dog who doesn't moult hair around the house? I wish I could have another one!

6] Gun trained? Willy waver!! :p Then again, it's only slow drivers who need fast cars ... and that's the real analogy, isn't it? What your dog [or car] says about you not what you can actually do with your dog [or car]!

1. When a dog gets the time that it no longer has a good quality of life and needs carrying about then I am firmly of the belief that it is kinder
to do the right thing and PTS. I know a couple of mine would have been totally stressed out had they been unable to get outside when they wanted
and had accidents in the house

2. The 2 dogs I bought to the megameet are fully trained working gun dogs, they pick up and flush on shoots weekly during the season and
at this time of year compete in regular working tests. The fact that they weren't my dogs but did as I asked is a testament to the time and
effort their owner has put into them. You just have to remember how well behaved they were when I left them in the open car, not a single noise
they just slept

This choice by the OP is my worst nightmare.
Yes I can see how that could be Steve.
Its OK if you want to abstain from voting :D

No willy waving from this part of Norfolkshire..... just saying what I would like in a dog, and big dogs are preferable (to me)

When lived at home, had black lab gun dogs - used to hose them down after a swim / shoot.... they loved it!

If you are gonna have one have a big one, that's what I say :D

I'm a big dog person - IMO, if you have to bend down to pet a dog, it's dog bait (shove a hook on it and cast it out to catch a real dog!) Pretty much the only small dogs I've encountered that buck this trend are J&Y's 2 JRTs who don't seem to be as yappy as most of the ilk even if they are more manic than a street preacher!

At the megameet, I was very surprised at how well behaved the dogs Gremlin had borrowed were - under complete control of a "stranger" (as in not their owner) and surrounded by distractions. Ne'er a peep from either of them.

Of course, at the moment we have a cat whose hatred of all things 4 legged (other than prey items!) means that a dog is not a current option. When the inevitable happens, a change of car may be needed to accommodate something a bit bigger and canine.
