Hi guys

I am really getting into sports photography at the min and recently purchased a 7D and Canon 300 f4.

I have since bought a used 1D mark 3 on ebay, which hopefully will arrive next week.

Now the idea was to sell my 7D to pay for the Mark 3, but now I am thinking of keeping both cameras so that I can buy a 70-200 2.8 to use on the second body for when the action gets too close use the 300.

My problem is I really could do with selling something to bring a bit of money back in.

Now I have a 5D classic in almost mint condition which I use with the 17-40L for landscapes.

Would you sell 5D? and will the 1.3 crop factor of the Mark 3 fill the gap of my full frame 5D when used with the 17-40?

The other option would be to use the 5D as my second body for sports, but i'm not sure if it would be fast enough AF wise?

Yeah I know that Andrew but my problem is i do like landscapes.

I tend to use the 5D with the 17-40 + a 10 stop filter to get those long exposure shots.

Here's one I shot at Whitby with this set up

My question is would I miss the 5D too much, or would the 1D mark III be able to fill the gap. I know my 17-40 becomes a 21-52, which I think would still be wide enough.

Suppose I need to know how the camera handles high ISO and long exposures:thinking:

Try the 1d at landscapes before flog any gear, give you a better idea then!

Just thought of a way I could keep the 5D.

I could sell the 7D and get a used 1D Mark II or Mark IIn.

so which kit would you guys go for based on shooting landscapes and sports.

(a) 1D mark III & 7D

(b) 1D mark III & mark II & 5D

would the user interface on the mark II be difficult to use when using a newer mark III as the main body ( I understand they are very different, with the mark II using a 2 handed operation!)
