Yes
I cancelled my Sky subscription and after 14 years I'll be without it from tomorrow... Eck ;-)
I'm looking for a Freesat box, does anyone else use it and which box is best that will record and pause?

Don't know about Freesat, but when we cancelled our Sky subscription we just kept using the same box for all the free channels.

Humax tend to get the best press....

Thanks for the comments guys.
Timbo, that good is it? Did you use an existing dish?

I have a Foxsat too. Existing dish but you'll need to have a double LNB to be able to record and watch at the same time.

Can't recomend it highly enough except for one thing. I can't get mine to talk to our Sammy TV. Someone on, I think, Digital Spy said it was blocked by Samsung.

Don't know how true that was. Never seen anything else claiming that.

Humax was the go to brand - maybe not so much now, with Echostar's appearance.

Yes, I used the existing dish, but changed to a four output lnb, two cables to the Humax, and the others to two sky boxes, the Humax is our main box, I wouldn't pay for Sky!

Coming from a sky box all the freesat ones are pretty rubbish. I got the humax fox sat jobby. It's fine but usability of these boxes are rubbish compared to sky boxes. In fact it frustrated me so much that I went back to sky

Wouldn't be without our Humax Foxsat HDR.

Plus one, fantastic box that has served me for years. I just plugged in my old sky+ cables and off you go. Record two and watch a third :)

There is a newer fox sat model now that had all the online on demand tv channels integrated.

Hmm, according to Satbuyer the Humax Foxsat is discontinued .....

I have the Foxsat-HDR/500 and it does what it says on the box. Only downside it takes forever and a day to change channels while viewing the channel listings. any operations you do via the remote you almost have to be directly in front of the Freesat box for it to work. If your comfy chair is offset to your telly then be prepared to stretch a bit while you switch channels.

Apart from that I find the quality live viewing and recording very good.

Thanks, I'm sold!! Just got back with the Humax 1000. Fingers crossed :-)

Ok, here is the fun part, the guy said I just swap it over with my sky box and everything is in the box... Wrong! What do I need to connect the Humax box to the dish as the sky end of cables don't fit? Thank you in dance :-)?

Are you sure you got an HDR-1000S and not the DTR-T1000. The first is for satellite and the latter is for freeview (i.e. normal aerial)

Just thinking the same myself, the sat cables you had on the sky box should fit on the freesat box, connectors are the same.
HDR 1000S Click Here scroll down a little for a rear view of the box.

Or did you get This one scroll down for the rear of the box

Yep, I got the wrong one!! Took it back this morning and get the Freesat version. All set up and working. Have to say I am impressed with it. Ok, there's the change in menus but ones I can get used to pretty quickly.

Thanks for all the very helpful replies..... Happy to have kicked the Sky can down the road :-)
