Which Flashgun?

Hi all.

I am going to buy my first flashgun for my D40x.

Cash as always is a bit tight at the moment so would be gratefull if you could advise me between the Nissin Di466 Speedlite and Jessops 360AFD.

Both seem to be ok for a beginner but is one make better than the other?

I need to start to learn how to use a flash and thought one of these would be ok.

I purchased the Di622 which is a great starter flash and meets the same Guide number level as the 430ex....but it does have a few flaws, I've not been able to find a remote trigger which supports it and it won't support high-speed sync(outdoor shooting in bright light)...just some thoughts you may want to consider.(wish I did)

I think i will have to look into it a bit further, but i still like the jessops for the price as it has a 360 head.

I think the trigger compatibility issue mainly applies to the MK I version of the Di622, the Nissin importers will do a free upgrade on the firmware if you ask nicely, although it's still not guaranteed that it'll make it work with any specific triggers.
 
Hi all.

Again thanks for the answers.

I have decided to save up and buy the best flash i can afford in a few months time , i am going to be taking some photos soon in several indoor locations so will need the flash.

I was thinking of getting one of those pop up diffusers to help lesson the harsh effect of the pop up flash.
