Hi everyone :)
I am now looking for a flash gun for my canon 600D
I have seen the CANON Speedlite 430EX II Flashgun for £199
Sigma EF 610 DG STfor £130
and the METZ Mecablitz 36 AF-4C for £70

Any advice ( and tips ) on any flash guns or any of the above models very appreciated :)

I would say go for the canon if you can mate.. Its a well built bit of kit that works well.

Ive got the canon 430EX II, so you should go for that as your camera will allow off camera flash control as it has a built-in Speedlite flash transmitter, but it wont with any of the others

I had the 600d and I could use that to trigger my Sigma 530 Super via the on board flash whilst keeping ETTL. Its a great little flash with loads of features found in the more expensive Canon equivalent. The build quality is beyond basic and the HHS (known as FP) is a little hit and miss. I picked up a 2nd one as I was quite impressed. After having both for a little over a year, im thinking of getting the canon 430ex ii for build quality and reliability and maybe offing one of the Sigma's.

Soz if I was a bit out on that

But could you control the flash compensation of flash with the Sigma?

Yeah, you can control the off camera flash compensation in camera. You can also control them independently if you've more than one.

I've the 430EX and would recommend it,

Kerso is doing the 430EX II for £189 on his web. http://www.flashcamera.co.uk/flashguns/. Think he has free delivery as well this month ?

HDEW are the same price, but not sure re delivery...

thats good, Id still get the canon

Don't blame you. If I had the money at the time and knew then what I know now, I would do the same.

I've got a Canon 580EX II and a Nissin Di866 and both of them are very similar in features but the Nissin is 2/3 of the price. Both are excellent though and I usually use the 580 on my 5D3 and the Di866 on my 60D.

The wife has a Nissin Di622 MkI and after recently upgrading from the 550D to the 650D and the flash is not compatible with the 650D unfortunately. She never actually used the flash with the 550D so I've got a brand new flash that I've got to dispose of now and get her another. I might just go for a Nissin Di866 MkII this time and let the wife have my MkI, which works perfectly with the 650D.

I use a Nissin Di866 mk2 with my Canon 60D. It is an excellent flash, well made and fully featured and it cost me a fraction of the Canon equivalent.

I have no hesitation in recommending it and, if needed, would happily buy another.
