Which filters?

ok but i wouldnt waste my money on them, most of them look useless and will give colour cast to your photos.

Cokin are a good cheep way to get into filters and the P 85 series is good for standard lenses, but just to be sure get a wideangle holder.

As for filters Neutral Density Graduated is what you want, These filters help balance the sky with the landscape/seascape. (although some toggs prefer to do it by muliple exposures instead)

I would be looking to buy a ND4 0.6 Hard Grad and a ND8 0.9 Soft Grad to start with, Also consider getting a Circular Polarising Filter, This would usualy be a screw in filter.

I wouldn't really bother with those. Almost al the colour ones can be replicated in software.
All you really want its a few standard ND grads, a circular polariser and maybe a normal ND filter for long exposures.

Thing is how many of them colours would you actually use?

Personly if you was going to spend around that amount of cash i would add on a extra 10 quid and go for a set of 3 Hitech Soft Neutral Density Grad filters, chances are they will be much better quality without the colour cast those cheaper filters will cast.

Or there is a Hitech 85 Neutral Density Grad ND0.6 Soft Edge Filter for 20 quid on ebay, only one filter but its a good one

Thanks for the replies. The colour ones didn't really interest me - couldn't see me using them.

Was more interested in the ND filters for long exposures.

I'll take a look at your suggestions. (any links ?)

Cheers

They most likey are inferior as they are not genuine Cokin, But someone who has used them would be better placed to tell you.

I dont know how wide a lens your using but anything wider or as wide as 15mm on a APS or 24mm on a FF DSLR will give you problems with only a 85mm P filter system, And if your looking to upgrade in the future it can all be a waste of money. Far better to get a fairly decent system from the start like the 100mm Hitech or Cokin Z.

I was looking for something to fit my Sigma 10-20 lens. Would these be ok then or would something else be better. Like I say I wasn't looking to spend too much until I get the hang of it.

Just bought myself a Cokin P series ND8 and the guy in the shop (Jessops) told me Cokin had gone wallop. They certainly didn't have much in stock and I struggled on their website to find a shop with one in. Anyone aware of that? I have a P series holder, if they have gone are there any other manufacturers that make compatible filters I wonder.
