I've started to get into this photo malarkey and have now started taking my photos in RAW and JPG (setting on 40D).

1st is there any point doing this or should I just take them in RAW.

2nd As I have both formats of some photos at the moment do I keep both or just keep the RAW and delete the JPG, I use photoshop elements organiser to, well, organise my photos.

Given the low price of storage media, I'd keep both. I tend to produce jpgs when I take the photos, but often come back to them and have another go as my PP skills have improved a little and I have better software.

Presumably you produce another JPG from the RAW file? If so, I can understand why you might not want to keep the original JPG. On the other hand, it can give you one idea of how the RAW might turn out when processed. If you're not producing another JPG from the RAW, there wouldn't be a reason to shoot in RAW.

I would just shoot RAW, unless you have a very specific need for the additional JPG. After post-processing you'll have RAW and JPG as a result of the workflow, no need to have a surplus JPG.
