Which External Hard Drive do I get?

You can get a nice 500gb SATA2 drive for £63

and a SATA USB external case for £30

you could even get a 750gb drive for £130 ish

Hard Drives are definitely the cheapest and easiest option for fast, reliable backups. With anything major being backed up to DVD as well for added cover.

I have the 250gb Firewire version of that Gilly.

 Janice this one is a fire wire as well.

The reason I went for it, was partly the advice on here and partly my brother said to stick with Western Digital or erm... I can't remember the other make he said. Anyway, he gave me a list of things to look for, that included the following:

Buffer more than 8
RPM 7200
ATA
Firewire of the 3 different sizes as well as USB2

I'm in work and can't remember the other things he had on his list - Oh! only his reasoning for this was to make it as future proof as possible with the best price. WD came out the best all round for value etc.

.....oh! and I have still got to pluck up the courage to partition the C: drive as you peeps suggested. I'm a bit scared of that bit.
