I recently had the misfortune of dropping my 1D-X into a large pond. It sank to the bottom. It was never seen again.
So - I need a replacement but can't afford a new one.
I'm in a part of the world where warranties mean nothing, and even the man at the Canon repair centre didn't understand what the word 'recall' meant.
I have two possible options (and I need to choose one as I need a body for next week).
Which might you choose and why?
Option A
Immaculate body
9000 shutter count
Boxed
Being sold by someone that's never really gotten into it - bought it on a whim.
Sounds good so far?
Serial number is part of the recall batch with the 'potential' mirror box problem. It's never been back to Canon, and on speaking to the local service centre, as stated above - they didn't understand what this 'recall' thing meant, and have insisted that any works completed will be chargeable. Full stop. No negotiation.
Camera at this time shows no evidence of any fault.
Option B
Body in good condition but heavy wear marks around the strap eyelets - very noticeable.
19000 shutter count
Boxed
Being sold by a used camera shop
Serial number is NOT part of the potential problem batch of cameras as outlined above.
So would you choose -
Option A - lower mileage - immaculate - but with the potential for a fault that 'could' develop at sometime in the future....
Option B - higher mileage (but only marginally) with some war marks - outside of the faulty batch of serial numbers.
The difference between the two is £50 - Option A is £50 higher price.
A or B?
