hi all

im in the process of buying domain name setting up website etc etc i've narrowed it down to two choices for the name i want both available but dont know which one to choose. i want the address to be something easily remembered and doesnt sound like a gimick. it may be worth mentioning i will want to one day sell prints from said website and offer my services. it comes down to:

www.lawrencestephenphotography.co.uk/com

or

www.lawlessphotography.co.uk/com

do you think i should even include the word photography? maybe we could have this as a poll? thats up to the mods though

thanks guys

I would probably just go with lawrencestephen.com/co.uk - though I guess they are both words that could be miss spelt through word of mouth, so might need to get a few of the other various spellings :|

lawlessphotography is quite a cool on, but might give people the wrong impression about your photography?

yeah thats what i thought about the lawlessphotography one its really cool but yeah i think people might get the wrong idea about my work hmmm decisions decisions. when you say get a few of the other ones do you mean buy them all and link them toghether so they all go to the same site?

Yeah, just point them all to the same site, or "park" the other domains, if your hosting allows for that.

lawrencestephen.com for me, you dont need the photography you can have that in the source code of the page so google sees it. Also the photography could go on the banner and on the site.

I personally would have photography in the domain name for search engine optimisation reasons if you are wanting people to stumble upon your site through google or such. Having photography in the site content will obviously also help.

With regards to maybe having business cards or adverts in newspapers in the future, the shorter the domain the better. People in general are bad at spelling or simply cant be bothered to type things in properly.

Just my 2ps worth as I'm a web designer and newbie photographer/forum lurker

Yes, in retrospect I wish I'd chosen a shorter name, it's a pain in the butt to write out all the time! Short and catchy is the way forward.
