Yes
I presume your preference will depend on your age (although there do seem to be quite a few young'uns into the swing type music?) so should get an idea of age %'s on here. ;)

Forgot to say, the 2 young guys are both brothers. ;)

Another vote for neither.

A couple of brothers and mates I prefer listening to.
Sadly only one of the brothers is unable to play anymore, but still looking forward to seeing the rest of them in a few months at Wembley. :)

As everyone else has gone for an option that wasn't given I'll stick to the rules and say that I prefer #1

but if I had to choose to listen to either of them or nothing, I'd pick nothing :)

I quick like number 2 but then again I like jazz, blues and rock

I didn't give the option of `neither` because it was mainly a generational question really. I was a little surprised how their tastes in music seem poles apart & how many of the younger folk are into the swing/jive/boogie....music.

The 2 lads (my Nephews btw) are only in their 20's & seem to have a future in the music industry, which they love. Long may it last.

I voted #2. btw ;) wtf is all that DnB about!?!?!?:grumpy:

Both - but they are not for the same experience surely? No.1 is for a clubbing environment and the other for a concert environment.

Anthony age: 69

Agree with Anthony - both.

I don't really care about genres. I just love music. Great music can be found in all genres. Equally, s***e music can be found in all genres.

Neither. As to the generational thing, it will always be cool to go against the flow, i.e. swing when we are force fed dance based crap all day long by the mainstream.

:( Another 'neither' here too.
I wouldn't voluntarily choose to listen to either one of them for pleasure.

However, since we've been asked to pick one - and 5 seconds of #1 fills me with an urge to smash something with a hammer just to shut it up (thank you YouTube for providing a stop button!) - I've voted for #2.
At least that one isn't provoking any violent impulses

Age 39 BTW

Haha, I feel the same.

I dont know why you decided to put less than 4 minutes of 'swing' up against an hour plus of DnB, but i couldn't endure 30 seconds of either.
As for the generational thing, kids have been accepting a wider variety of watered down genres for a while now, what with all these boy/girl bands covering every base and making them all sound the soulless same as each previous release. Yeah, it's great seeing a bunch of live musicians, but swing thing does nothing for me on a PC screen; maybe if it was part of a night out i'd enjoy it, but I wouldn't go looking for it.

Ha, it wasn't a competition about how much you wanted to listen to, but there's a bit more here if you want to even it up :D http://www.flashmobjazz.com/#!media/cfvg

I agree watching on a PC isn't the same as being there on a night out (not that I'd enjoy DnB live  my head wouldn't stand it!!!!) but I much prefer the `older style` music, hence the original question really & wondered if it was more a generation thing. I was just slightly surprised at the complete polar opposites of 2 lads of similar ages & their tastes in music.

Is the DJ guy a brother of the jazz fella then? Sorry, I missed that and thought the brothers were in the band (#2 video)
Lot's of brothers can be polar opposite, in may ways, so it's not that surprising

Yeah, they're brothers & both brought up on a variety of music, just not DnB or Jive. I guess we all like different things, just the same as with food.

Managed about 5 seconds of #1 but still got #2 playing. 51YO.

For me there is no easy way to say this. But No 1 is a load of rubbish, and the second actually ruins the original version

58 Y O.

Just an update to this thread (which I'd forgotten about until earlier today)

They are both doing well & enjoying their careers.

Conor (Emperor #1) is travelling the world & DJ'ing to large crowds.
WTF is this all about!? o_O

Oliver (#2) still has links with the jazz/swing band in Brighton, but is in a newish band, Lowes, who have been signed by Sony & they're off to Norway shortly.

Now the youngest brother who's nearly 17 has started @ music college.
He's just formed a group, Regiment, with his mates.

I like both styles of music, however the sound from the D&B one was cr@p

I like most types of music, from classical through to rock, some perhaps more than others.

I appreciate it for what it is
