Hi,

After much deliberation I'm about to take the plunge and treat myself to a Nikon SB700 Speedlight.

Looking for any user experiences with this on a D3100 and also suggestion's for a middle of the road general purpose diffuser if there is such a thing.

Regards
Neil.

Best flash accessory I've used, and I've tried a lot, is the Lumiquest Quik Bounce - about £40. Best all-round results, most versatile (vertical or horizontal framing, works indoors and out), most efficient (doesn't waste light out of the back) and packs away flat

Richard,

Thanks for your reply - Exactly what i was after.

Cheers
Neil.

SB700 is quite a nice piece of kit - just got one myself and although it's not as good as the SB800 for instant adjustment, it is well made and does the job.

Anyway, general purpose for me is a small softbox for off-camera work. However, you obviously want to use it on-camera so maybe get one of those little softboxes.

Personally though, I'd get the flash off-camera using some cheap triggers or a TTL cord to aid creativity.....

Good outside, but doesn't do bounce so not so good indoors.
