Which compact and why. Canon powershoot sx210is or panasonic tz10

Adding a 3rd option my everyday point and shoot is a sony dsc-t77 point and shoot, its superb the whole back is a massive touch screen there is no in and out lens to break etc + its 10.1 megapixel

strongly recomend

Thank you any other comments guys and girls

Out of those two I would choose the TZ10, if only for the lens.
If I had to choose a Canon I would pick the S90.

I set a budget of £250 as that what i can get both above for...

Personally, I would (and did) drop Kerso a line and get a Canon S90. Slightly over your budget (at the price I got) but well worth it, it's a cracking camera.

Shooting in RAW and using the great noise reduction feature in Lightroom 3 ISO 800 is perfectly usable - not many PAS cameras can claim that :)

I like my Leica D-Lux 4, others will say this is the same as the LX3, cant comment on that as I have never owned one but I love mine and love the Leica case :-)

Definately email Kerso and get a price list from him. His prices are second to none. I agree with Nawty, and would get an S90 - Based on reviews. I have just ordered a G11 for the other half, but that is much over budget. That is a great camera, based on reviews and his love of his old G9.

Perhaps a second hand G series? G9 or G10 would be within budget.

I love working with raw in my canon 40d is worth having raw on point and shoot compacts?

You don't get as much headroom as you do shooting RAW on a DSLR (but there is some), the real benefit is WB control and the ability to use your own NR techniques.

Instead of the TZ10 i'd go for the TZ9.. same camera without the battery sapping GPS.

I just turn the GPS more or less permanently off on mine, but the reason I paid extra for the TZ10 is that the movies record in stereo, and I wanted to record at gigs.

Excellent small compact though and has much better reviews than the Canon.

That why I like the tz10 as I would like to use th gps sometime when am away on holidays

save your money and buy a Sony Nex 3 or 5 and don't look back, the 5 or 3 are what compacts have been waiting for, I am now happy to leave the bigger stuff at home and when I see a great shot I don't wish I had a bigger sensor with me, it's not hard to fit one of the 2 lenses in my pocket and I don't look like a pro and attract the "you must be a terrorist or pervert boys". only drawback is the cost but I think it's the best money I have spent on photography.

Might look into all this and sell all my gear. Where best place to buy and lens too?

One downside it does not take raw which I like on my dslr. But I know lots compacts dont

They do shoot RAW but as yet not covered by CS4 so I use the software supplied by Sony, as for where to buy look on the net but I am a believer in shopping locally I like to be able to complain to a person if anything goes wrong.
