Hello everyone, i have ordered a Canon 20D + 55-250mm lens.

One last thing, which memory card should i get?

The camera i am buying does not come with a usb.

I need a card which will allow me to take a lot of photos in a very short space of time ( as it is rallying, continous bursts are needed! ) and in general will hold a large number of pictures.

I'm not sure exactly how many photo's i'd take at a rally, but i imagine it wouldn't be hard to exceed 1k.

Thanks in advance.

Check in the manual or online thats there isnt a limit on the size of card the camera can take before buying anything. Some older cameras were limited to smaller sizes.

I would sooner look for using 2 8GB cards than one 16. Incase the card becomes corrupt halfway through a rally. Just my feelings on memory cards. I have six 8GB cards, myself.

A quick google around seems to show that that up to 8GB is fine for the 20D. Cards of 16GB will be limited to 8GB if formatted in the camera. However, it would appear that if you format the 16GB cards in another device that's capable of formatting to 16GB then the camera can access all of the 16GB.

Personally I'd stick to 8GB cards. I'd hate to do a days shooting only to find that the card has corrupted due to fudging it to do more than the camera's firmware wants to.

Given the age of the camera it seems likely that the limitation of recording speed, number of shots in burst etc would lie with the camera. 8GB cards from 7dayshop (very reliable trader) would be as low as £12. Get two.

Hi everyone. I ended up going for 2 x Sandisk CF ultra II 4GB Cards. Apparently, ( from reading elswhere ) the two combined will give me over 2000 shots..

That's a lot of shots so I assume you're shooting JPEG's? If so I think that you should consider moving to shooting RAW.

I hope that you're happy with your 20D, I'm still using one :)

Hi Alan, as i'm new to the whole DSLR thing, what's the difference between shooting Raw and in JPEG ? Though i do know the cards hold significantly less raw files...

And one final question, i read somewhere that the 20D doesn't allow playback with certain CF cards? I hope not for the SanDIsk!?
