Hi, I want to buy a Canon wide-angle lens. I was hoping they would release a 12-24 lens but that hasn't happened so I'm looking at the 16-35.

The question is which one!

I know the F4 has IS on it and is the newer updated model, but I like the idea of F2.8 however there's no IS, but I think I can live without that!

I was just wandering if there is anyone that has tried both and what they think?

In that range you have the choice of 4 lenses that will work well on your 5D MKIII.

The 17-40mm f4
The 16-35mm f2.8 MKI
The 16-35mm f2.8 MKII
And the 16-35mm f4 IS

If you need to stop action in low light, then go for the f2.8, if not then the f4 would be a better option.
You won't notice much difference in image quality between the 17-40 and 16-35 MKI, but a big difference in price.

Looking at the review(s) the 16-35mm f4 IS ticks most of the boxes

Why not look at the Sigma 12-24 OS HSM MK2?

Im in same situation pretty set on the 16-35mm F4 IS, F2.8 would of been nice though as i like abit of Northern Light Photography
