I'm looking at buying a specialised Canon macro flash - either the MR-14Ex Ring Lite or the MT-24EX Twin Lite.

Can anyone offer me advice regarding the pros and cons of each?

Thanks.
S.

I have recently bought the MT-24EX to go with an MPe-65 lens. I was advised that because the MPe goes up to 5:1, the subject is ectremely close the the lens. The MT-24 lets you pivot the flash heads to give more versatility with the lighting. The ring flash I had previously didn't give me this option.
I'm still a beginner with the macro world so sure someone will be along soon.....

I've been doing some research on the same thing and found this comparison which has been useful.

For me its going to come down to the softer light of the MR-14 (using ratio control) and the directional control of the MT-24 with one flash on the subject and one on the background
