hi guys
My missus is starting to get into photography after using both of mine ( 7D mkII & 5D MkII )
She is saying both of mine are a little bit to big for her hands so looking for a camera slightly smaller ...
Must be a canon DSLR so she can have the pick of my lens ...
any input would be helpful

depends on budget and how much smaller really but a double or triple figure canon (80,750) or the tiny 100 if really small wanted

The 60/70/80D (or whatever number they're up to presently) are good bodies to look at if she wants a slightly smaller body.

I'm not sure about the 6D size wise if she would prefer full frame...

Probably best initial option is to pop to local camera shop and let her hold a few of the different sizes of Canon body to see which she prefers...

got no good camera shops around me really to try

The xxxD bodies are certainly significantly smaller and lighter than the higher up the range ones but I believe the controls are completely different, so that might be something to consider if she's been using your cameras.

If the 7D2 is too big, then yeah, you'd be looking at 60/70/80D or the 600D types.
In terms of size and weight the 6D is nigh on identical to the 60D, I weighed them both before I parted company with the 60D ;)

You'll probably have to go for a drive, either to Boston or Peterborough, perhaps Kings Lynn. Even a decent size Currys/PC World tends to have 5 or 6 Canon DSLRs on display so you can try them out for size (then order online from another cheaper store).
There is no way to replicate the way a camera feels in your hands, so unless you can find a friend with one you can borrow or hire one, you will have to travel.

I'm not familiar with Canon but if you wanted to look and try different models your best bet on a camera shop would be WEX in Norwich, great range of kit in there and not too bad a drive from Sutton Bridge

Many thanks for your input of weight on the 6D & 60D
Going to check the spec on this camera ...

The 6d although full frame, is one of Canon's smallest DSLRs. Its certainly smaller than my xxd bodies. Its a great package.

would I be right in thinking the 60d is nearly the same spec as my old 7D apart from FPS is slower & viewfinder is only 96% instead of 100% ?

hmmm SH 7D or 60D ?
Or something else guys ? Got to get this right never hear the end of it sigh ;)

if your 7dmk11 is to big then the mk1 would probably be as well the ***d series cameras are way smaller and lighter, are the higher end features really needed?

The 60D is good, reasonably sized, (not a bad option if you need a backup either), it also has better live view, flip out screen and better video functions than the 7D (Mk1). It has a simpler AF system, which although not so handy for sports, is easier to use and takes less time to get used to. I tried a 7D and found the AF point selection system ridiculously complicated. So for a new photographer, the 60/70D makes a better camera. The 7D is also much heavier as it has the alloy chassis.

The 6D is a great camera, it's basically a 60D with a full frame sensor. Low light performance is phenominal. Though if you got one, you'd probably use it instead of your 5D2 and the wife would get nothing ;)

Look at the spec comparison on DPReview:
https://www.dpreview.com/products/c..._eos6d&products=canon_eos7d&sortDir=ascending

Looking purely at weight:
700D = 580g
60D = 755g
6D = 770g
7D = 860g

So the 7D is 280g heavier than the 700D, which is significant.

I'd be looking at the 700D or 60/70D, but it'll be down to what feels right in the hands and in the wallet.

60D is any good sports Eg motorbikes ?
As the frame rate & the AF system is not as good as the 7D ..
But it seems the same or slightly better in other areas.....

My wife has a 60D and loves it.
It's a highly capable unit and produces great results.
As for motorbikes, we regularly attend Cadwell Park and she nails some stunners!

Our Currys/PCWorld sells the CANON 750D if you have a shop near you.

Also a very good Camera, touch Screen very useful.
