Hiya all

I need some help deciding on a DSLR for my little man's birthday (he'll be 9!).
Really looking for a Canon as I have a 450d and he can then share lenses...wondered if the 350d would be a good starting point.

Up until now he has used a Sony Cybershot P&S but since I got the 450d he constantly wants to use that instead with good results too. As he is has dyspraxia and dyslexia he struggles at school but is great at photography (he has even worked out how to use Elements 7 better than I can!) and belongs to the school photoclub.

I really need to look at S/H and relatively cheap as funds running low with 3 of my 4 children having birthdays within the space of 3 weeks.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Yup, the 350D is a truly good camera, the 1000D may be looking out for 2nd hand too.

I don't think there is a great difference cost wise between the 350 & 400D second hand so I'd go for the 400D. Great to hear he is loving his photography at the grand old age of 9! I'm sure whichever model you get him he'll love it
 
If you can pick up a nice second hand 350D then go for that, otherwise the 400D's can be picked up for quite a good price second hand.

Maybe a bridge camera would even be ok? Although I think a decent one would probs cost more than a 350D....
