Which Camera Rucksack/Backpack for Travel?

Hi,
I am off to the Far East (HK, Malaysia and China) in August, and would appreciate any friendly advice on a camera backpack/ruck to purchase as I will be doing a fair amount of walking and travel photography.

I am looking for something that can be taken as hand luggage on a plane and can hold an 10" laptop, A canon 350d with 12-24F4, 24-104 and maybe the (70-200F4), F4 base lens with pockets for CF and filters etc.

Some advice sought, do you usually checking your tripods too or do you carry it as hand luggage?

Any suggestions etc would be most appreciated!

there was a recent discussion about this on here with another member - hillwalkinggirl! soem of the best I have seen are Crumpler half and full photo rucksacks. I am an amateur at this - but hopefully others will respond who know what they are talking about! or even the Lowepro slingschot series!
 
Have a look at the tamrac adventure 9 you can fit a fair bit in there and it has a top pocket for passports tickets etc, takes a laptop and fit in the overhead lockers no problem.
 
Kata R-103 sounds like it will get all of that in, plus cables and chargers etc. in the little zipped external pockets. They also have Thermal Shield Technology (TST) where a cover is provided, silver one side for deflecting heat and black on the other for rain..

Can't recommend it enough:thumbs:

Oh, and I doubt whether tripods will be allowed in the cabin as they're often construed as potential weapons
 
I replied to hillwalkinggirl in another thread re: Fastpack 250. I've cut an pasted it here, so the text may not be in context with the rest of the thread. I did not take any photos of the top compartment, but can do, if want.

I have slung it around, with the left strap still on my shoulder and have got my camera out, and back in, without any problems. Even with all that kit, I am happy that it is secure enough. My only gripe is that I can not fit my Siggy 150 macro in, standing up. But I did not intend to carry all my kit in it. In fact, it will probably be 20D + 18-200, and maybe the Nifty Fifty, and that's it. Bought it to travel light, and also have room for all the kids' stuff.

Thanks alot folks, I think I am going for the lowepro fastback 250, seems to do what I want I want it to do and with the £10 cash back from LowePro seems to be good value!
 
For anyone else reading the Dakine Sequence is good for this, but the F-Stop Tilopa is meant to be even better...
