Hi People,

I am going snowboarding soon (Woo!) and i'm looking to buy a digital camera to take photos of the trip. The problem is i'm not too up-to-date on digital camera nor know much about a good spec camera. I was hoping you people could point some suggestions out to me. I wanted to spend around £50-£60 and was going to but from eBuyer. Are the camera on here for that price any good? http://www.ebuyer.com/store/Photo/cat/Digital-Cameras

Please help me choose!

Thanks
Ross :)

basically you get what you pay for, so a £50-60 isnt going to be mind blowing spec to be honest, but it depends what you want to do with them. they should be alright for web or comp viewing. and 6x4s but much more and your pic quality wont be much good.

Yea i wasn't expecting much for £60. Are they all about the same around that price or are there better makes? I wanted to put them on my PC to keep and maybe print a few off.

id guess at that price they all be about the same. but prob best to pop into jessops or currys and hold a few and see what you think.

What are those types of cameras like for motion shots? Any idea?

not good, especially due to the long lag between button clicking and picture actually taking due to focusing and all the auto stuff etc. if you know anyone with one of these, perhaps try borrowing and waving your hand at similar speeds and see how clear it comes out. my experience says itll blur, but i not bought one for bout 4-5 years

Ok thanks alot! I guess most pictures will be still shots as my friend who we are meeting out there has a professional camera but didn't really want to go down the slopes with that incase i break it

Any recommendation on the mega pixel of the camera?

Megapixel doesn't really matter that much. It's more about the quality of the lens than the number of megapixels. I doubt you'd be able to buy a camera for that much money that would have too few megapixels ... see if you can find one that they say would be good for sports shots. That might help :)

Alternatively, you could consider buying one of these... http://www.firebox.com/product/1732

A friend of mine has just taken one skiing :D

For what it's worth, I'd try and avoid eBuyer. Experience of friends has been bad there. Having said that it might have been a one-off, so you could well be fine :)

Surprised there are not a flock of gulls in here going "MINE";)

What's the best ,is the camera that mostly (there is always a compromise) does what you need, is portable and compact enough to slip in a pocket and is within your budget.

How about an old 35mm film camera off eBay and have your films put on CD at processing time? You'll get far better quality than any £50 digital camera will produce.
