Hi all

Just curiosity question for all users of W10

I think W10 comes as default with Edge but under W7 I have been using Chrome as my PC for some reason would not install IE11 ???

On another thread I said I will be installing W10 (gearing up in readiness to do so on Friday 29th (inside the free deadline ;) )

I think when SWMBO Dell laptop auto installed W10 there was only Edge by default and that she/we had to find and activate/download IE11 and she is happy with IE11.

So what do you use and as such is it worth(?) me sticking with Chrome???

TIA:)

I read some time ago that IE was a bit 'open' to hackers ---- no real evidence though

i have always used FF

although it - since W10 - will not log into Bank of Scotland nor Royal Bank of Scot ( on my PC)
so for those 2 I do use EDGE...

bottom line -- what ever works for you.....:)

Firefox. You can postpone the upgrade beyond the deadline, by downloading it, and specifying a later install date. Up to now anyway.

When I got my Win10 laptop last year I used Edge just once - to download Chrome. I can't pass comment on Edge (at the end of the day it's just another browser and everyone has their personal preferences) but I'm used to Chrome and all my other devices use Chrome, so I can log in and have commonality. Chrome can be a bit funny if you have multiple user accounts on one device. After I downloaded Chrome I created a second user account on my laptop, but logged into it, Chrome wasn't available, Chrome seems to be for single user or multiple users depending on how you download it. Rather than faff around dumping Chrome and trying to reinstall it I poked around and found IE buried somewhere deep in the Win10 system, so I've set that up as default browser for the other user. Personally I hate IE, but I'm probably biased because my desktop is still on XP and won't run anything beyond IE8. There are a lot of web stes that don't run properly in IE8. I was still stuck with IE8 at work and it was such a dog! Funnily enough when I first installed Chrome on my XP box I didn't like it. I got it because it ran a particular application in a graphical interface that was only available in Chrome. When IE8 rendered itself useless I switched to Chrome and now I love it, It really is what you're used to.

Chrome #1 on everything including (Android) tablet and phone.
I like the full sync across everything although Firefox can do that too.
Every now and then Chrome seems to struggle to load part of a site so not unknown to need start Firefox or even IE:eek:

Firefox takes 3x longer to open especially on Laptop.

Win 10 ships with Edge and IE11 - if you hit the search box in 10 and type "internet" you'll see it finds it and you can then pin to Start or Taskbar if you wish. IE is really intended for compatibility purposes only although Edge had been until recently a "work in progress". It's a solid browser now though and extensions are coming and I would expect it to eventually be most PC user's browser of choice.
It also uses significantly less battery than Chrome.

Personally I have Edge as default and Chrome installed as a back up.

Firefox here, though have once in a while found compatibility issues at a site which Edge overcame but I don't like Edge.

I use mainly Chrome but Firefox for a few sites that seem to run better on it.

I also use edge to monitor a few sites, logged in with different accounts so I don't have to sign out in Chrome. Also IE for Sky Go as Microsoft's codecs for video seem to sync better than other browsers (had audio lag in other browsers - fine on IE).

Chrome is about the best of a bad bunch these days. Although I'm finding less and less sites and plugins work correctly.

IE11 next in line, it "just works".

Firefox is a bloated mess of a browser but have it installed for a few handy plugins (Bloody Vikings).

Talking of W10 and browsers. When you upgrade from W7 and open a browser such as Edge or IE11 does auto import the bookmarks/favourites or is that a manual process I should plan for exporting my Chrome bookmarks (thinks is that possible under IE?) To then import into Swy IE11 or Chrome under W10???

Edit - sorry I know not relevent to my own OP but in a W7 to W10 upgrade does it, so to speak, honour the 2 UAC profiles I have in W7 ?

Firefox, chrome, IE for some sites that require it. Never edge :)

Been using chrome for years.. always worked well for me.. again our IT guys said not to use IE..

Chrome seems to be heading to the same bloated mess that is FF these days.

I've started using Vivaldi (https://vivaldi.com/?lang=en) which so far seems pretty good, if a website misbehaves I go back to IE, it seems to work better than the others for badly designed websites.

Chrome, purely for the synchronisation across devices. But it's been getting slower and slower on Win10.

Good point. Opera for synchronisation across devices, on more devices, and top performance as always.

I use Edge 90% of the time it is more crash resistant than Firefox or Chrome. Chrome if there are particular extensions I need to use.

Firefox and Chrome for me. I had problems with IE when the change from 7.1 to 10 was forced on me.

I use FF as my main browser, Vivaldi and Opera either for speed or when I want to airgap sites from tracking each other. Edge is used to log into corporate Outlook365 webmail and intranet portals only.

FireFox I couldn't get flickr to work properly with the windows 10 browser

Edge, love that browser will be better when 1password is supported. I have to use Chrome for our corporate billing system since it requires the spawn of the devil shockwave/flash.

Firefox.:banana::)
