Hello,
I'd like a tablet for Lightroom and Photoshop editing (only). The intuos series are too expensive. Therefore, I looked at the bamboo range. I'm lost between the pen, pen&touch and the fun. I don't understand the difference between them. The bamboo pen has 512 levels of sensitivity, the others have 1024, I get that. I don't need any extra software either.
Does anyone have any advice ?
Thanks,
Nicolas.

Also looking into the same thing. Does anyone with the touch version actually ever use the hand gestures on the tablet? Sounds good on paper but I don't know if i'd actually use it

Hadn't seen this before but I like the look of it.

Rob - think I would as I have got used to using this sort of input first on an iPhone and now on a Dell Streak. The difference is that you aren't directly on the screen of course which may make a difference.

I'm following this with interest as it's something I'm looking into too, for PS and LR as well. I can't decide whether to get a bamboo one now, or wait til I can't afford an intuos one, though no idea when that would be.
Have you found any good sale prices?

I've had the pen & touch for arond 3 weeks now and have pretty much got used to it but have had a few problems with the drivers suddenly disappearing. From a google search seems to be a common problem but there was a work round so google it if you experience problems, last 2 days seems ok again.

All that told it's soooo much easier making selections and generally using for PS would recommend.

So what is the "fun" about then ? Is it only software ? Do you pay more to be able to choose a size ? (S or M)

Bought the Pen & Touch today..

It's the best £62 I've spent in ages :)
For LR or PS its great so much easier to control than a mouse.

:)

I should have the Pen & Touch delivered with my WEX order later today. I'll have a play and let you know what I think. Although I have no frame of reference, this being my first tablet.

I'm lost between the pen, pen&touch and the fun. I don't understand the difference between them.

Not sure about the Fun, but the essential difference between the Pen and Touch functions is Touch allows it to be used with your fingers as a mouse-replacing trackpad, just like on a laptop.

They don't half make it difficult to work these things out though :bang:

Reviews of the Pen and Touch are very positive. Seems they even come bundled with a trainer to get you used to using it!

All wacom products are very good and very reliable. Your new tablet should give you years of use, that is unless you upgrade to a larger one

I've just been having a play with my pen and touch, and I already love it. There's also a really helpful tutorial on all the features!

I got a Pen & Touch today; it's a delight to work with. Nice and compact.

I got that over the Pen only for the higher pressure sensitivity (1024 vs 512), and simply disabled the Touch functionality in the settings.

I think I'll go for the fun pen&touch S. The pen is a bit better they say than on the pen&touch. There is not much difference in price.

Purchased a Pen and Touch the other day, much like a couple of people above this is my first but very excited to take it for a spin.

Can anyone tell me roughly how long it takes to acheive some basic motor skills on these things?

What I did for the first day, was to use the pen instead of my mouse for general use of my PC.
Just so I could get used to the movement, and actions, rather than losing my rag trying to edit a photo with no idea on how it reacts...

One of things I really like is the rubber/eraser on the end, make a mistake on say selective colour just turn the pen round and rub it out.

I'd say it's gonna take a couple of weeks to really get the hang of it.
But still loving it

:)
