Currently have 450D with kit lens, 50mm prime and will be getting at least the 55-250 IS lens so looking for a decent bag. I like the ruck sacks. It need to be fairly small but still be able to get stuff in. I have been looking at the following:

Lowepro Micro Trekker 200
Lowepro Slingshot 200
Tamrac Expedition 3 Backpack

Any comments. I think my ideal is the Micro Trekker but trying to find it in stock at a sensible price is proving difficult.

What do you guys think.

I have had the Lowepro 200 and it's a good bag but the Tamrac holds more. My mistake was to expect the bag to match my incessant need to buy more kit so ended up with a Tamrac expedition 7 and it's nowhere near enough. Go bigger if you can, my mates Tamrac 5 would hold your kit and offer room for expansion.

I agree 100%. Look at the bag you want and then get it in one or two sizes up from that. :D

Have a look at the Lowepro Fastpack range , I've got the 350 & I think it's excellent

Thanks guys.

However part of the reason i want to get a small(ish) bag is to ensure i can take it comfortably on the plane but also i am a member of a Lotus car club which is hopefully where the camera will be used a lot. I own an Elise an the boot is not exactly what you would call big in any way shape or form.

Cheers

I've just got a Slingshot 100, its small yes but I have very little kit right now and don't intend getting much more than a second or third lens shortly, so it will do me until I get more kit and after that I will use it when I only need to take my camera and one or two lenses.

Thanks guys.

I have just purchased a Lowepro Flipside 300 from Amazon for £39 its a great little bag, I have got it specifically so that it goes on the plane with me with no fuss at check in. It looks small but it has taken my D300 with 300mmf4 prime + tc attached, my D80 with 80-200 attached + my 18-70mm, squeezed in my charger and batteries etc so i'm well pleased. I should just about survive the way in at 7kg's. So hopefully it should do the trick when we go to Kenya in 2 weeks time.

My vote goes for: Tamrac Expedition 3 Backpack - really good size for a daily bag, would take your stuff easily. I prefer the Tamrac product to the Lowepro (know i'll get into stick for that!) but they just feel more solid and better made imo.
Have you gone to a shop with your gear and had a play? trying to get your stuff in and how it feels once packed up....might help you to decide...
its such a minefield and everyone has different demands and preferences
good luck

Just to throw another bag into the equation what about the Kata 3n1's? Ive got the 20 and its a really well made bag, plenty of room but not to big. Can be a slingbag or a rucksack? Just my two pence worth.

My Lowepro slingshot 200 takes my Canon 350 with any of my lenses fitted, nifty fifty,Canon 70-300 IS and Sigma 17-70 with lens hood attached plus 430 EXII flash with room to spare

Go large - no matter what you buy you will upgrading when you buy more kit. I've changed bags more than any other kit. Currently on a Lowepro Photo Trekker II - hopefully this will be large enough for a few years to come!

I love my Lowepro Slingshot 200AW, carries my 50D and lenses below no problem, it's the "slingshot" bit I love about the bag.

But to be honest if I got more kit, I doubt I'd go for the 300, I tried it when I got my 200, but I found the 300 cumbersome and uncomfortable.

def go for the lowepro fastpack 350. easily the best bag for the money. check out camera king. got mine for under £40

Thanks guys.

I own an Elise an the boot is not exactly what you would call big in any way shape or form.

Good man, me too but you're clearly not trying! You can get stacks in an Elise if you try hard enough.

I'm using a Lowepro Rezo 160 and manage to fit a 450d, 18-55 IS, Sigma 17-70 and 50mm 1.8 plus assorted filters and other tripe.

Well i popped down to Jessops today to have a look at a few.

The fastpack 250 is too big
The Slingshot 200 is not for me, did not like the one strap going from one side to the other
I did like the Micro Trekker AW though

At least it has given me an idea. I have not been able to see the others.
