Which Backpack? Help greatly appreciated

I'm looking for a backpack which isn't too big - i've got a 20D, 55-250mm and 18-55 kit + loads of useful accessories...... hopefully in the near future upgrading to better lenses/more and perhaps longer.

The backpack MUST be waterproof ( or come with cover ) as i attend alot of extremely wet events :)

Also must be a little room for progressive upgrades in equipment ( about 7/8" long lens probably? ) ( my next aim is a 100-400 probably )

I did have a look at the tamrac expedition 3x backpack , but not sure if it would be big enough?

I use a lowepro fastpack 200, I find it a good size for the kit in my sig (plus a flashgun).

It's not waterproof, but I got a waterproof rucksack cover off eBay for about £5 which does just as well as the built in covers on more expensive bags.

I have a Fastpack 250 which I once wore in heavy snow when skiing which soaked it when it later turned to rain in the village, my gear was completely dry, so with a waterproof cover on top of that I can imagine that would be very good!
 
It looks like a decent bag ( the 200/250 ) but it doesn't look like there's much room for lenses. Although i'm probably not going to opt for anything longer than 7" at the moment, i still might get some shorter macro's etc though :)
 
I was going to recommend the lowepro flipside 400aw but they seem to have shot up in price. Great bag, but not for today's prices :S

Hmm £80 odd.... perhaps a bit much for what you get by the looks of it...
 
I've got a Dakine Sequence (the older style they have released a newer version I believe) Its perfect for me, has loads of straps for light stands and a tripod strap at the front. Can happily fit a 40d with grip, 70-200 2.8, two other lenses, flashgun and filters etc; and then you have other pockets on the front, side and top which you can put just about anything in. You access the camera from the back of the backpack so its super comfy and the rain proof thing in it is pretty decent as well.. survived mountains in Canada and being thrown around a lot in general. Highly recommended!
 
Well i still cant fault my Lowerpro mini trekker,fits plenty,very easy to carry around tracks and has a weather cover in the bottom pocket which works really well.

Dont know if you can still get new but may be worth a look on E-Bay etc.

Flipside 400 would be my choice, in fact it was and does everything I want from a backpack
 
Maybe take a look at Kata bags. I have the Bumblebee 210 - not cheap but I love it!!
 
The Canon 200EG might be a good value option. You'll probably have to buy it from America though.

I'm looking more at the flipside 400AW - is it quite a large backpack ? Concerned it may be too big for my needs...

Perhaps this question would help : Would i look daft just walking about the street with it on! ( as in does it stick out like a sore thumb like those campers you see ... ) lol

It's not necessarily length i'm concerned about, it's width.

and it turned out to be really fat and square which just looked ridiculous lol. ( it did have a laptop compartment which didn't help )

IF the Lowepro flipside 400 Aw isn't as ridiculous as that, i'll probably go for it.

sry to hijack but though it better than starting another bag thread.
im stuck at the moment on what to buy also had looked at the mini trecker ,flipside 400and rover Aw II .
i need it to hold a d700, nikon 24-70 2.8,70-200 vr2,85mm 1.4g,50mm 1.8d,sb600 and would prefer a laptop compartment(i know none off the above have this).
plus i need to be able to hold extra stuff when traveling,it needs to be inconspicuous as im traveling with it and it needs to fit hand luggage.

i know its alot to ask for one bag and im struggeling.
when i go traveling this time i will most likley take just the 24-70 and 85,but would preffer it to hold all of the above when im back home

That's the D'Light ? I'm looking at this for holding my Panasonic G2, a couple of lenses and probably a Macbook air for travel.

Is the bag really good? I've looked around at a few and am a little worried others are huge!

Is the 210 DL a fairly nice and compact size? I'm likely to occasionally use it as a day pack or wear it on my front if I have a big backpack on, think this is possible?
