Im looking to buy an A3 printer , but which one ? I read reviews in magazines but you have to read between the lines a lot and I have had good advice from this forum when buying a long lens last month so your thoughts again would be appreciated .
I know there are printers with both photo black AND matte black installed so you dont have to change from one to the other what other likes and dislikes do I need to consider ?

Thanks, Alan.

Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II seems to get good reviews!
Don't have any personal experience though!

I do and am very happy with the pics it has printed out so far.
Im not sure how it compares to the Epsom quality wise or cost of ink but i know you can get some good deals on ink for the canon now and again.
I get the genuine ink from 7 Dayshop and the last lot i ordered i got 2 for the price of 1.

how much do you want to spend

are you going to print much B&W

are you going to run a CIS to save cash on carts

Epson seem ok if you use them regularly, but Epson have always had a reputation for blocked nozzles which can be expensive or impossible to repair if they block fully. The 2880/3000 are meant to be excellent but the blocking puts me off and takes me back to 2 or 3 good A4 sized printers that all had this problem...and the wasteful cleaning cycles Epson use.

Canon Pixmas 9000/9500 seem very good, the latter if you want mono prints.

The problem with most of the cheaper A3 printers e.g. Epson 1400 etc. is they don't do mono well at all, at least not to a standard most reviewers consider acceptable for 'exhibition' quality.

This same dilema has prevented me from taking the plunge as i want to be able to print exhibition quality mono A3 9and colour) but occasionally.

I've had an epson R2400 since it eas released and never been completely blocked. yes I've done head cleans but nothing thats not cleared up.

I have the canon 9500. A colleague of mine found it hard to believe that a print I had made from it wasn't done at a proper photo-lab.
