Which 70-200 lens for around the £400 mark

picking up my new 40d from jessops later on today and was hoping to get the sigma 70-200 which they had on offer for £399 but they seem to have put it up back to £514.

thats a bit out of my budget now and seems wrong paying over £100 more from the same shop as it was last week :thinking:

any help on an alternative would greatly be appreciated. its mainly for motocross photography so the 2.8 and it needs to be fast at focussing.

maybe jessops will still sell it for £400 if i buy it together with the camera??

any help would be great!

I think you will find the £400 is the older version and the £514 is the new mk11 version.

there comp system should still show at the lower price for the mk1 and if in stock you can buy it, it might even be cheaper.

if you do order a lens online from jessops, dont forget to use the discount code lens10 for 10% discount
 
Jessops had this today priced up as £159 in one of the photo magazines.

I would look at the canon 70-200 personaly, that can be had in Jessops for £404 and £40 cash back. Nice lens that
 
its the same lens, the mk11 is £799 :(

just rang up my local jessops and it seems that it was an offer on the blue sale which just ended a day or two ago ... DOH!!

they also said that the lens10 code can only be used if your ordering online with delivery and on the website it says that only collect at store is avalaible on this lens... once again ...DOH!

feeling very out of luck today :(
 
if you do collect in store, it still takes the money off for the lens10 code:shrug:
 
rang another store and they said it was fine with the collect at store so im now the proud owner of a new 40d and a canon 70-200 f4 L lens

im excited as a small child at christmas now im waiting for the battery to charge :D
 
that lens was the first bit of L glass I ever bought.

its still my favourite lens.

What i said is..... I tried you website but it was failing to load the store locator and i was unable to purchase the lens, the main problem i have now is that i've got a discount code but your site didn't allow me to use it.

I got my 10% my tubes back in december, i'm sure that'll work for you lol ...
