Where are y'all buying film from these days?

My last lot came from 7dayshop, and some expired Reala from Peter Walnes. I'm aware of PFD/Howard's loft too.

I don't mind buying properly stored expired stock, I'm just trying to track down cost effective sources (COUGHcheapCOUGH) :lol:

I do try and snaffle some on the classifieds here, but some Ujj bloke keeps beating me to it! :naughty: :p

Poundland do Kodak ColorPlus 200ASA in date. Rollei Retro or Lucky is cheap B&W.
 
There's an F100 on ebay with 9 rolls of Ilford film, a AF 50mm f1.8D and a MN15 battery Grip for £122 at the moment... So after flogging the lens for £90 its £32 for 9 rolls of film and a free F100 with grip :) No dosh left after spending another £450 at Lencarta or I would have it.
 
Have you considered contcating Fuji directly to ask where you can reliably buy it? If you want to buy Fuji , then worth trying a Fuji Digital Imagaing Service shop , and for Kodak, a Kodak Express shop.
 
okay buddy, i'll check the type and how many ( raid to the freezer and an hour of *******ing from SWMBO later) will tell you the details

That is nice..... going up rapidly now though :)
I've also spent too much money to be being frivolous.
 
Legacy from Digital Truth (currently only in 35mm) - cheapest B&W avaialble akaik.

HP5 - 10 rolls of 120 for £25 on eB.ay
Ektacolor - 10 rolls of 120 for £12 (far est version of Portra) on eB.ay

For everything else - 7 day shop is cheapest
 
Mike, how is the Ektacolour results (colour and contrast) compared to porta? Is it made by Kodak or some chinese company who owns that brand name?
 
Sign up to 7dayshop mail list as they sometimes sell off expired film and it is very cheap.

Difficult for me to compare to normal Portra as the last time I used it I had it developed and scanned to CD by Jessops and was amazed how badly they turned out.

EDIT - this last sentence is slightly incorrect, I forgot I did recently use Portra (self developed), but in 35mm, so not fair to compare against 120 film really.

All I can say is that I'm extremely pleased with the results of Ektacolor - great, true colour translation, very fine grain and a fair amount of latitude.

My Fuji is dev'ed in the sink downstairs :lol:

oh and back On Topic - DigitalTruth for LegacyPro 100/400, 7Dayshop for the rest. But I'm not buying any at the moment as I've got 2 tupperware boxes in the 'fridge and another 2 in the Freezer (around 2000+ frames worth :bonk:)
 
The last two lots I bought were from Discountfilmsdirect who were very quick on sending etc and well packaged.

And AG Photographic, who were very slow...so slow it took 12 days to arrive (by which point I was on holiday having got Velvia 50 from Calumet in Bristol)

Discountfilmsdirect were good for me, and I'd use them again, however AG Photo were a bit slower, if I'd not had a deadline I might use them again too..

The boxes arrived pretty battered but as the film is in plastic cannisters is doesn't bother me.

I've been buying 5 packs of Fuji 200 ASA from my local sainsburys for £6.00. Noticed that they're also stocking APS-C stuff too.

Were these in a big pack of 5 that just say 'Fuji 200' on? I've seen a similar pack in Boots. Do you know which type of Fuji film it is? Is it Sensia?
 
I imagine it's Superia print film.

FWIW, Boots' own brand process-paid slide film is made by Fuji and rumoured to be the same formula as Sensia. I bought some on a 3-for-2 deal yesterday. I'm not quite sure what its future is now they're discontinuing Sensia.
 
I think all the above have quoted the usual and reliable sources for film, ie 7dayshop;mailshots; and discount direct. I have used all 3, and found them excellent and quick to deliver. One I have also used is Mathers of Lancashire. They no longer advertise in photo mags, but at the beginning of this year, Mathers was the only one who could supply me with Fuji slide, when the others were awaiting a delivery from Fuji.
 
I just bought some of the £1 a roll Kodak stuff from poundland. Seems ok and It apears to me to be the same model jessops give you when you have a film developed.
 
I tend to buy film from 7dayshop but only because it's usually much cheaper to do so. I would never rely on it for film that will be used for something important. I made a big order from 7dayshop before going on holiday but the fact that it wasn't dispatched until 5 days after the order meant I didn't get it in time. Thankfully I had made an order several days later from AG Photographic and it arrived before I left, it's a little more expensive when you consider postage but it has great service and a better range of films!

Stuff that's unimportant arrives pretty sharpish....

Stuff that IS important arrives in the fullness of time.... By time, I mean geological... :lol: :lol: :lol:

I still use them loads though!

Just had an order through from discountfilmsdirect.co.uk by the next working day. I wanted to try some Fuji NeoPan400CN, they were the cheapest....

....and pretty bloomin' handy in the speed department! :)

Gahh, I spent about 25 minutes walking around the Poundland in Brighton to try and find some of that Color Plus (used to be the only reason I got dev at Jessops, I really like the stuff) but found nothing!

I usually get film from 7dayshop.

Mr T, Never heard of AG, where are they based, and are they on the web ? Might be worthwhile having a look at them, and comparing their prices. Yet, so far, having used 7dayshop on several occasions, I found them prompt, and never with any delay.
