So, I'm sitting here, after a few too many JD and cokes after finishing work for the year, and I'm looking back on 2013.

It's been a very very good year for me, My photography has improved massively, I've won a good few photography competitions, I've had Images published in a few mags and online websites/galleries, I got my 1st big buy lens (85mm 1.4 carl ziess). I GOT MARRIED!!!! , I lost 2 stone of fat and got back training in the gym, I pulled through the stress and depression that was still lingering on, I'm no longer a moody man angry at the world, I'm genuinely happy for once in my life! My kids are coming on in leaps and bounds and I couldn't be prouder!!!!!

All in all a fantastic year!

Now my thoughts move on to 2014, where I want to go in terms of lifestyle, and photography.

I hope to lose another stone of fat, and get back to 12st, I MUST make the move to a full frame camera and possibly the change of brands? Although the sony a7r is very very tempting! I'm going to move away slowly from the children studio stuff and concentrate on getting wedding experience and work with some models on some conceptual ideas I have. I plan on becoming a master of PS and LR and maybe taking up a few different genres of photography that I've never done before. Oh and a website is a must!

I could add a few more but I will leave this open for the next person.

So....Where will 2014 take you?

Look forward to reading your replies.

Matt

I am expecting enforcement officers in or just before the new year. What they are and what they will do I don't know.
I am waiting to find out. After they have done what they need to do I hope to start again somehow.

Plans for 2014....get TNS off the ground properly as it kind of stalled well crashed actually into the back of little green car, due to being out of action for several months with a knackered ankle...but that at last appears close to healing :woot:....I'm also aiming to improve my general fitness and start trying to drop some of the weight again as I was doing well on that until family life got flushed down the drain :(

Travel a little because I've not really seen much of the country in recent years mainly again down to personal life issues that do look to be getting better now

So I'm not after a lot but to see a positive come the end of next year I suspect will put me on the right course to keep it up

after last year anything in gonna be better but i fear i may be in prison for murder.

That's a toughie

With two girls aged 12 and 5 plus two boys aged 2 and 11 months I'm now in the position where my wife doesn't have to return to teaching after maternity leave. A few years off will do wonders for her and the family.

We'll be working to try and get to grips with my eldest daughter's ME. She's nearly 13 and is missing a lot of school because of it.

From a photography point of view - I'll just continue as I am. It's not my job but I sell a few bits and bobs. We'll be spending some more time at the cottage on Loch Sunart and also Harris plus I've some plans for the house which should be good.

Kit wise I've no big plans but I tend to be fairly spontaneous so who knows.

On the whole I'm just looking forward to the year ahead and watching my two lads develop.

2013 was a little bit stressful. After 29 years with Ford as a toolmaker, I had to wait until within two weeks of the toolroom closure, before Ford could tell me my new job title and work location. I'm now retraining as a prototype mechanic and engine dyno operator. I've been very fortunate in my new position, as many of my work colleagues who were also toolmakers ended up working on the production line in the engine plant, even some of the ones who were fortunate to have got skilled jobs in the engine plant aren't happy with their new positions. The hundred or so that went to another plant with me have certainly dodged a bullet. Looking foreward to 2014 now to complete my retraining, plus hopefully after being unemployed since May, my eldest son will find out in the next few weeks if he has a new job too.

First...it's good to read that you're seeing a lot of positives after the hard times Matt, stress and depression is something I went through some years ago and unless you've been there no-one can really understand how difficult it can be to pull out of it.
2013 hasn't been to bad a year for me, nothing to shout from the roof tops about but then nothing to bad either so will be happy enough if 2014 is the same.
A little highlight was my first calendar, only for Christmas presents for family and though pretty insignificant it did give me some nice little positives with the photographic journey.
If I could make one wish for the forthcoming year it would be to see my eldest daughter who I've not seen for a long time.
Best wishes to everyone for 2014
