:help: Help people, got a date during the day on Thursday and have no idea what to do. She says she wants to 'get out of London' for a bit but I don't want to drive for more than an hour. I am so busy working right now that I can't think of anything! So, anyone got any ideas on where to go? I would of course like to go somewhere with a photo opportunity or two, date or no date .

give us a clue as to which part of London you will be in when you collect her?

She lives just above Camden Town. M1/A1 is the obvious but where to get off?

I should have expected that one! Touche. So seriously, anyone got some ideas?

Whipsnade zoo?
10 mins J9 M1

Sorry, not an animal person so no zoos! Looks like central London (again). Some show or something I guess

Dunstable Downs?

Get a kite, and "show" her how to fly it, by standing behind her, and you controling her hands... ;)

Yessssssss! (claps hands in a MR Burn's like manner). Though rain is a distinct possibility.

Depends what both of you like... walk, food, drink etc...

St albans is a nice town, and there are plenty of nice villages with nice pubs.

I suggested St Albans to her, waiting for a reply. Any particular place?

We had a photo meet in St.Albans last year and I made a Google Map of our route - may be useful for you? - the meet was on a Sunday, so some items will not be of relevance, but you may get some ideas from it.

If not Windsor, how about Richmond Park, or Virginia Waters?

Get to Victoria station and get on a train to Brighton.

Get your toe down and head for Cambridge ;)

Cambridge is without a doubt the best place to go, take the train so you don't have to drive and you'll do it in under an hour, it'll probably be cheaper as you won't have to factor in car parking

I can't believe I am handing out dating advice... but anyway... don't do the cinema or theatre as a first date because you want to get to know each other, not sit in silence for two hours.

Save that for date #3 or something.

Just go with lunch/dinner and a stroll in the park so you can talk.

Unless of course thats not the type of "date" you mean... if its different to that, Travel Lodge is cheaper than Travel Inn ;-)

Yeah come to St. Albans and I may spot you haha. The Cathedral by night is a blinding sight, there's a whole row of traditional pubs in St. Michael's and if you feel bored you can hit the town and drink in a reasonably busy environment. If posh(ish) dinner is on the cards, check out St. Michael's Manor Hotel or Sopwell House.

I'm hitting the town this eve for dinner and drinks :)

keep up, travel inn is now premier inn :)

from Camden...er.....Saffffend (I mean Southend)? Should take little over an hr depending on how you drive lol

Thanks for all the input people. I went to St Albans in the end. Was easy enough to get to sans tomtom. She seemed to like it, the tourist thing walking round the cathedral. Had lunch in the fighting cocks. Went to milky cow cafe place for some awesome refreshments at the end.

Wont tell you how the evening finished... Got some snaps might try to get them on here once I've seen them myself.
