Anyone have any good suggestions for a value self catering place to stay in the Lakes ?
It needs to be able to allow pets to stay too, i'm probably looking at September time for about a week :)
Thanks.

just google cottages in lake district
i do every yr for scotland, then make a brew and trawl through them
a lot of the big agencys charge for there services but it maybe possible to get the owners contact details and go direct,
you may also find cottage owners who have there own web sites
where to stay is a difficult one, all of the lakes is nice
thing is its possible to stay anywhere and get all over the lakes in a day

+1 for hard knott pass! But definatly only if your a confident driver and not too bothered by driving 6 inches from a 500 foot fall :)

Last time we went over, I didn't tell the wife I just said turn left I know a short cut:):):)man did I need a stiff drink after letting her drive. a range rover came over the crest and she tried pulling over to let it past, I screamed like a girl.

Someone mentioned Keswick, look for Honister Pass, there is a point where the road bottlenecks on a very steep slope ( ithink its apoint where oncoming traffic have right of way (there is a layby to stop and get out) if you blink you will miss it but there is a lovely little waterfall off the edge.
