Hello film peeps,

I dusted off the slr and rattled of a roll of Provia this evening after a couple years shooting digital. I wondered which is a reliable lab to send it too for development nowadays please? I vaguely remember settling on AG Photographic's lab or possibly The Darkroom a few years back after recommendations on here.

Thanks for your help.

I use AG as they appear to be better prices,I have always been very satisfied with the service.Only one time was the delivery longer than 10 days from sending to receiving.

Peak are excellent and fast (3-4 days), but their scans are a little expensive. AG are excellent but have often been much slower; their process and scan is much cheaper. Club 35 might be a good compromise.

You need to think about the sort of scan you want. Most places offer a "low resolution" scan of around 1200 ppi, which translates into about a 2 mp image, or a "medium resolution" scan, quite a lot more expensive, at around 2000-2400 ppi, giving a 6 to 8 mp image, which is much more flexible. UK Film Lab's scan is at least medium resolution by that definition, and excellent quality, although they take around 10 days.

I recently had some Provia developed at The Darkroom UK Ltd. Good results and whenever I have used them the turnaround is really quick - i.e Post on Day 1 - Day 2 at the lab - Received in the post on Day 3. They provide a pre-paid label to send the films in. I have only used them for develop only so can't comment on their scans. I scanned the slides at home on an Epson v700.
