I'm off to Belfast tomorrow for work. It's the usual routine: airport>industrial unit>hotel>industrial unit>airport, but the hotel is at least reasonably central. I'll see how much room will be left in the bag and will try to squeeze in a camera & mini tripod, but the question is whether there's anything worth photographing at night there.

Where would you recommend going within walking distance of Eglantine Avenue, and is it safe to be walking about with camera gear after dark?

I'm 40 odd miles from Belfast so not overly familiar with where to photograph at night, i do see images from around the titanic quarter/ harland and wolffe cranes/ odyssey/docks etc regularly though. Search flickr. As for how safe it is, well just last night another mortar bomb was fired at a police landrover near the city center causing a major security alert and traffic chaos today, but don't let that put you off:D

Thanks Philip. Don't think I'll mention the mortar to my wife. ;)

You really want to try and stick with the Titanic Quarter if it's at night, that's the docks area where Harland and Wolff cranes are and also the Titanic Building. Also a few of the bridges nearby have potential.

In regards to walking around after dark with kit, its not Baghdad! :D You should be fine but just try and be discreet with the gear like I'm sure you would in any other UK city after dark.

There's also St Anne's Cathedral in ... wait for it... The Cathedral Quarter... Honestly where do they get the names from? Never been inside myself but it's a Cathedral, bound to be worth a look.

You could also take a look at Queens University and Botanic Gardens which are right beside each other (museum is there too).

Good luck!

15 years since I used to visit Belfast for work but the Crown Bar (depending on what it's like these days) may be worth a visit depending on what you want to shoot.

Why not just explore, and shoot Belfast as you see it?

Thanks gents, much appreciated. Just about to leave for my flight. :)
