Right i really need to find myself a job now, had enough of waiting for other people (not naming any names) to find me a placement that "could" lead me in to a job there. So I've started looking around on the internet job websites to see if there are any jobs near to me, and i have been asking in shops down the next village.

Here is a list of the jobs i was looking for

Delivery Person (Like Chinese orders)
Window Cleaner
Goods Driver (But i am sure you have to hold a HGV license for most of them)
Gardener
Shop Assistant
Working in a pub
Computer repairs
The list goes on....
Tractor driver

But, what should i really be looking for? i have not a clue anymore, and i am not really getting much help from job centers.

Have you gone into the job centre and sat down and spoken to someone? I think if you go in and show some enthusiasm they'll start to find jobs for you. It's not like you're being really specific and picky, which is a bonus.

To deliver chinese (or any other takeaway food) you need hire and reward insurance similar to what taxis/private hires have, otherwise if you have a bump the insuarance will wipe their hands of you. Plus your car ends up stinking.

Yep, a number of times but to be honest it is just a waste of my petrol

Why doesn't this surprise me  but good on you for trying

Thanks mate, apparently they had 100% good reviews and i think that is what tricked us in to going to see them more.

Oh right, i think this job had company car supplied or something but i am not sure. I thought the company insured you. Thanks for the tip

have you tried recruitment agencies?

Yep, tried going to one of them in Lynn as well but i have not got another appointment with them until after chrismas and chrismas is when i need the cash coming in most of all. for pressies and that.

you tried your local big tesco? they often need delivery drivers.. they'll tell you at customer services

the good thing about norfolk is you can often get jobs just by knocking on doors and showing some enthusiasm.. try it in London they will think you are a nutter if you didnt go through some bloody sucking recruitment agency

www.reed.co.uk is good for looking for normal jobs (not just IT ones like all the other job sites)

Thanks everyone

Badgerbaiter - I have looked in our local tesco but never asked for more details, might do that tomorrow

Flash In The Pan - That's a good idea, but Jessops? Yuck lol suppose i could try Young's in Lynn

mattyh - Oh right cheers, don't think I'll be doing that then :)

andrewc - Yeah, that is where i am going to go tomorrow to see if they have any :)

I don't know if this is of any interest to you, but we employ a lot of freelancers to help with our sites. They basically go around photographing places of interest for our UKattraction.com website, write a small piece on each (along with stuff like address, etc.), and submit this information to the site. Not sure if I can post the pertinent link here but if you would like more details about rates of pay, etc. feel free to PM me.

why not try working for yourself? You could offer a dog walking service for example or garden maintenance -small building repairs/maintenance or apply for a business start up loan and go franchise for some product or other, or photographic service. I decided to work for myself and have never looked back. Yes there are drawbacks like any job, usually longer hours, bookwork etc BUT what you earn is YOURS not going into someone elses pocket

Realspeed

Thanks realspeed, that could be another option

Does that mean i would have to have a accountant then?
