Where to go in cheshire?

Im in cheshire and im half thinking sunday of going somewhere to get some different photos....

im completely open as to what off - the only requirements are that i have to take my dog!! - she cant walk too far (long story).

I was thinking the beach....? so the dog can have fun and i can do pictures of her and the beach/sand dunes or whatever??


Any suggestions?? I have a car and love driving but dont want to really go more than an hour? purely because of the dog :)
 
North Wales coast is photogenic in places but if the weather is good it might be busy.

Im going (excuse spelling)! boddlewyddn??? castle in a few weeks with one of the elders.... she wants a pic of the castle for our lounge :)

i want to go back to abersoch but its not really a day run.... would leave sat night however i have to do coursework and i would get murdered if i spent the entire weekend there :lol:

anywhere in particular in north wales?
 
what about lyme park, disley or dunham massey, altrincham or tatton park, knutsford... i know there's no beach but plenty of space to run around.

beaches in wales... straight along the A55 and then you've got Pensarn nr. abergele that's quite open... good luck, supposed to be nice this weekend
 
or the bluejohn caves - that might be interesting! :)

If you are anywhere near Knutsford, try the area around Tatton Hall/Park.

Also, from a long time memory, if you can find Leycester Road, about 2/3 way down there's a lane to your left. If you walk along there you will pass the thatched Humble Cottage (where I used to lodge with Mrs.Gould). If you carry along the lane and cross over the next road, you should come to a lovely wee gladed wood.

This was 1988 and it's probably built on by now :(

Lyme Park was another place I was going to post but the OP said Beach! We went a couple of weeks ago , it has some decent photo opps, a lake, flowers etc supposed to have deer but we didn't see any.

Caenarvon is picturesque in parts although it's a while since I've been....

just difficult thinking of places to go!!!


im thinking the wirrall too! ive heard the wirral way and the promenade is nice?? shops and that etc...?? and then mabey carry on to wales?

just something different :)

i also favour llandudno for beach etc

we went round alderly edge a few days ago
 
The Wirral... West Kirby is nice for the traditional shops. The promenade at Seacombe is good for a stroll and great shots of the liverpool waterfront.

Eastham Ferry / Eastham Country Park is great for dogs, fairly compact with loads of wildlife, oh... and the bear pit (yes, literally, a pit built for the bears to live in... search the web, Eastham Ferry used to be "the" place to go!!)

Delamere Forest, although probably not great for views, but if you like trees...!?

Chester and the River Dee... Now there's a place to go when the weather's nice (although I'm obviously biased) and you can walk along the groves (on the opposite side of the river to the city) with your dog.

thanks all :D

might just be me and my camera next week (tues) as im dumping the dog for tests in frodsham for the morning(shes under specialist vets).... so i might head off to wirral/north wales as tbh from frodsham its 30 mins to home and 30 mins to wales/wirral.... sooo might as well just stay out and head that way on tues - then delamere/further north mabey even lakes?! next sunday instead :)

lots to think about! :D
 
brereton mere near sandbach is a nice walk, its an old sand quarry now a lake and a footpath all way around. nice scenery,

if i go anywhere on tues that will be to wirral way/promenade.... :)

then next sun beach :D then wed/fri i am going places you lot have suggested :D
 
knutsford and tatton park will keep you busy and give exercise

its west kirkby/wirral tues afternoon hopefully!! depends what time she gets out from the vets!!!

i have 4 months off uni and only work the morning so afternoons will be spent exploring cheshire :D
 
if your on the wirrel try parkgate,all silted up now but very photogenic,have a look on google earth
still think you can see the old docks but not sure
 
All the places already mentioned are terrific locations to visit, and although nowhere near the seaside, I would add Northwich Woodlands to them. Plenty of footpaths for walking and hugely popular with dog owners.

i went the wirall as well as north wales on sunday :D it was more about takin gmy dog out tbh but i got 1 picture - not the best admitidly ! however for me it means a lot :)

i shall be going back there i think thursday as it was truely stunning and will get farrr more pictures next time and hopefully a clearer day :)
