Yes
5 weeks to go until our 1 weeks holiday in Cornwall. Will be staying in a nice farm cottage near St Austell and looking for recommendations on where to go and what to do while we are down there.

Already have tickets booked for Eden Project and the wife wants to take in Padstow. I fancy a trip to Lizard and Lands End. Want a mix of quaint villages, nice beaches as well as some busier places and stuff for toddlers.

Wife will be 22/23 weeks pregnant when we go and our son is just over 2, so wont be looking for drunken nights out or 10 mile walks!!

Going there on Monday! Eden Project is on the list, Falmouth Cruise, Flambards War Museum, Truro, St Mawes and I cant remember what else!
Will let you know when I get back!

Have a look at Mousehole, its about a mile from Penzance. A beautiful small village with an excellent pub called The Ship Inn over looking the harbour. Its a great place to have a few beers and watch the world go by. Good food as well.

Sounds like my sort of thing!!

Another vote for mousehole, also if you are in the Lizard there are lots of very photogenic villages and bays all around. Coverack is on the east side of the Lizard Peninsula and is at the end of a road, but it is worth the trip imo, nice walks along the coast, if that is your thing, or a pub, shop, ice cream takeaway etc (with insanely nice ice creams).....I have never been there during mid-summer mind, it is quite small so could be easy to feel crowded.

To be honest in that south west bit of Cornwall I have never found anywhere not worth a visit! It is stupidly pretty part of the world, just wish I lived there :(

Seal santuary at Gweek well worth a visit and St Michaels mount, walk across the causeway and catch a boat back, or visa versa. Minack theatre is an amazing place and truly a one off. Built right into the cliffs with the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop

I spent a lot of my youth in Cornwall as my family came from Perranporth, and most of my family on my mothers side are still there, Falmouth is the 3rd largest natural harbour in Europe and a trip up the river is something else to enjoy. Try some Oggy Pudding (thats got you guessing but butchers will know what you mean )and don't be fooled by mass made pasties get the original fresh baked ones.

If its wet go to Liskard and Trago Mills, loads of shops under one roof where goods are cheap. Not fakes or anything, the goods are sourced by the owner of the place world wide for the traders to sell on,you name it and its there.

See the full force of the Atlantic on the North coast and the small bays on the south side. I have seen
from the cliffs a Perranporth lightning bounce from the sky to the sea and back up again all along the 3 miles of sea/beach at Perranporth. The village flooded with spring tides so you drink in the local pub with sea water around your ankles. Also the sea boiling with herrings, something one will never see again.
I was actually left the head coastguards house there, but finances forced me to sell it.

Thanks all, especially Bazza. Some nice places there.

A while since we visited Padstow but it had a big drop into the harbour from the road, we had our young ones on reins.

Endless choices really but my favourites would be:

I'd definitely second the Minack Theatre, great place - Porthcurno beach is stunning too

On the Lizard...Mullion Cove, Kynance Cove, Coverack & coastal path above

West coast...Constantine Bay/Treyarnon Bay, Bedruthan Steps (at low tide), Perranporth.

Don't forget St Michaels Mount

Just a few ideas

All down the North Cornish coast is great, Trebarwith Strand is one of my favourite places, Boscastle up on the cliffs left hand path, Trevone Bay past Newquay. Booked my holiday for Sept :)

:plusone: for the North Cornwall coast around Tintagel/Boscastle and Trebarwith Strand. Went down for the day a couple of weekends ago, mainly to restock the freezer with proper pasties (Pengenna Pasties, watch them being made at the Tintagel shop and probably at the others as well) but also because it's a nice place to be and is an easy hour or so from here.

Forgot to say, and I am suprised no one else said, If you spot any tin mines with chimney, they are incredibly photogenic! I must try one myself this time! I love em!

Now for the second day of your stay in Cornwall !!!!!:lol::lol:

I had an Uncle who used to be head electrician for the China Clay Company and you can still or could see the slag heaps from the mining. Toothpaste was one of the bi-products from that region around St Austell.
A cousin of mine worked as a carpenter in the tin mines and I actually still have a real nugget of raw unprocessed tin and another of lead
