After my hols to Tenerife my sensor is shocking, lots of dust that my rocket blower wont shift. I live near Chorley and was wondering if anyone can recommend where to get a sensor clean. Oh and how much it may cost, ta.
If you have a London Camera Exchange close, they provide the service, think its about £30. Although take some advice from others who have used similar services in the area, I've heard horror stories of camera's coming back worse than they went in.
Personally, I clean the sensor on my 2 bodies myself, use visibledust swobs, solution and sensor bushes, simple and easy to do once you get over that initial (deep breathe) and have no real problems with dust.
I do it myself, eclipse fluid & pecpads. If you're confident it's much cheaper.
You could pay £30, walk out the door & get dust on the sensor after your first lens change & have to spend another £30.
Or you could spend £30 and be able to clean your sensor for the rest of the year.
I won a visibledust arctic butterfly which I use. I think they cost £50 but I dont exactly know. I'm not exactly sure how good they are compared to a professional solution, but it seems to do the job.
From what I saw in the store when I was shown how to do mine, a lot can be achieved with just a rocketblower. I only ended up having one small spot that needed wet removal. My aim now is to do the rocketblower the minute I spot a dust bun.
Cany understand why these kits are so stupidly expensive? bit of cleaner fluid some tissues and a glue spreader, £30 or more......these guys are having a right laugh at us.....
OK looks like IPA is a suitable cleaner used in some of these kits - £8.37 a litre, I think thats slightly cheaper than the visble dust cleaner at £24 for 15ml.......Nice little earner that the 1 litre broken down sells for a staggering £1,600!!!!
Think I'm going to practise on every lcd screen I can find, cameras, DS Lite, calculators etc, once I've got those prefectly clean I'll do my own....
Mine needed doing a little while back but I was a bit wary of making a complete hash of it!! LeeP did mine for me while I watched, so next time I know how to do it myself.
I must admit it was a lot easier than I had expected after reading about it, so if you do get someone else to do it for you make sure you watch them!!
