Where to find/how to make a collage like this:

Hello,
From the moment I saw this collage poster I just wanted one. I love the layout! Problem is I dont have a clue where to get one done (if anywhere) and my attempts at making it in photoshop have failed...Help! Thank you :)

I am obviously looking to use my own photos in the collage.

Maybe overcomplicated, but

  • New Document
  • New Layer
  • Rectangular Marquee Tool - hold down SHIFT key to make it square
  • Right click inside the dotted marquee and select Stroke Outline Selection, then Inside at desired width
  • Select Move Tool, then hold down Alt key to create another square on fresh layer
  • Align them as desired
  • Merge to same level and repeat until you have enough squares
  • Rotate the squares by 45 degrees and paste in images as desired - place in layer below to allow quicker cropping

There probably is a quick two click solution, but I was doing something similar earlier to create something with free 6x4 prints :D

Thanks for the reply :) I have tired and tried in ps and the part im having difficulty is the cropping :(
 
I was thinking, if you put the grid over the top of a photo, you magic wand select the excess through that grid layer, then switch and delete from the photo layer?
 
Oh, I meant the SHIFT key for making a square with the marquee tool ;)
 
I like that a lot, some kind of colour gradient would look awesome!
 
That's quite simple but very nice idea for collaging, i like it, and i think im gonna do something like this myself.
As for collages - there're a lot of ways to do this like Photoshop or more suitable for this program like this one
Feel free to experiment
 
I suspect it was produced using a graphics app such as InDesign , Pagemaker or similar rather than Photoshop. I looked at doing it in Lightroom. You can easily produce a grid template and insert images, but the rotation is a real problem there
 
new2me, thnx for nice Photoshop instruction, but it will take some time to make collage like this. If someone uploaded action or template, this would be nice :)
