Where to buy

I've had mixed success with Rocky.

I'm certainly appreciative of the genuinely mint Nikon FE I got from him for £40 - that was an amazing bargain. The 100% working Olympus XA2 I got for about £12 was another great buy, as were the various sundry items I got for a couple of quid from him (straps, cases, filters etc).

By contrast the Olympus 35RC and two Voigtlander rangefinders I bought from him all had faults. But then I sold on the 35RC on Ebay (with a genuine description) for more than I paid from Rocky, and have had a bit of fun with the Voigtlanders too, even with their faults, and none cost me more than £30.

Be sceptical of his descriptions and don't expect too much....you'll get the odd pleasant surprise and won't get too badly burned!
 
Two cameras out of five from Rocky that worked ! Incredible ! You should have bought a lottery ticket....
 
I must be in a minority in that i've had no problems with rocky, i had a body that didnt work but was described as for parts which is what i needed. Everything else has been fine. well he charged me for european postage by accident but then refunded me within an hour or two. If you don't set your sights too high it's not too bad
 
Never heard of this site before, had a look and not impressed. Looks like a lot of the stuff belongs in a skip.
 
Still no reply from him regarding the paypal dispute and I have until the 6th to sort it out with him - looks like I may have to get paypal to look at if I don't get any response from him in the next few days...
 
Good news, Paypal decided in my favour and all I've got to do now is return the lens for a refund.
Interestingly I looked up the address that I've got to return it to and rather than being a mansion, this came up:

i got in the same situation as u but am not bothered to return it anymore. as the camera i bought was £12.99 and paypal wouldn't refund me with the postage so it's a bit hassle for me to pop in to the post office..........

I had this hassle with a recent purchase, (not the same seller) and refused to accept that I should be out of pocket for an item 'not as described' and badgered the seller until he paid up. It was only £3.38 postage (about half what he charged me) but it's the principle.
