Where to advertise?

I need some advice about where the best places are to advertise as a photographer to get some jobs.

Obviously I will go for the local papers and magazines but are there any general places where I should be advertising? eg, yellow pages?

Local shops with those advertising cards displays is a good one and gets lots of local work.

Supermarket sale boards and also local free papers might help you drum up some business.
