Uh oh......I looked.....
 
Saw this before on another forum - I got plonked right next to the place name of where I was!
 
Last one was 57 miles out :)
 
At least I got near enough regarding the countries :)

Total score 12867, closest I got was 120 miles from the actual place.

It helps a lot when you work out you can travel along the road and look at road signs, though most of mine were in Cyrillic letters and most places were in Russia.

Thanks for reminding me about it, I think I lost the bookmark for it when I reinstall Windows 7 a while ago. In the past I've managed less than a mile out but also thought somewhere in Washington state was in New Zealand.

What a time taker! All of my mates are addicted now too!
 
I do love this....such a simple idea but waaay too much fun.

There is a good video online of a bloke doing a perfect game (only in the UK map version) in about 12 mins....it is very impressive.

I always tend to end up on a random country lane in the middle of South America and sit there clicking for about 5 mins before I see any sort of sign of life.

I seem to get a lot of Khazakstan, Siberia type places with dirt roads that go on for ever with no road signs.

Has anyone been dropped in random panoramic photos yet? The other week I got stuck in a park somewhere that just had two panoramas and no roads to travel, I had to guess on the trees and flowers (guessed South Africa and it was Poland or somewhere!).
