Now I know there have been similar threads, but please help me out..
I am here in the UK over the weekend for CJ's workshop, and have part of Monday free (like 3 hours max)
I am suddenly wondering about getting a 5d and a 70-200 f4 non IS, and if I do, will need to get it monday - I have some pictures to take in a few weeks, and want to be sure all is working fine beforehand. I could get Kerso to send me the gear to Spain, but am not very trustful of our postal service (or the one here..).
So, who might have the gear in stock, might offer interest free credit and be reachable from central London in a 3 hour period - any hints ?
I 'll take a look tonight once back from Brighton, but what can you tell me ?

Can recommend Camera World just off Oxford Street.
Very helpful and not pushy. I was looking for a tripod and was undecieded but they let me try them out and set them up for me, even when they wer'nt on display.
Seem to have good stock as well. Thumbs up for me. :thumbs:

Don't know what your circumstances are but you will likely need a UK residency address to satisfy the lender for credit.
 
You could also try Jacops on New Oxford Street, but have a quick mooch round the internet for a price match for them.

Otherwise, Jessops have been getting suprisingly competitive of late, and the same applies with Price Matching, depending on who you speak to.

Lastly, they won't be able to help with the credit, but Aperture (www.apertureuk.com) are without doubt the friendlist, nicest and most helpful people I've ever bought from and they had a 5D not that long back.

It is late, I am drunk, and I can hardly read what you people have written, so will look again when sober - many thanks though - had a hard day at the end of CJ's whip, and need to rest my well-whipped-b*tt, and feel I have a lot to tell you lot when I am able..
 
You could also try Gemini in East Finchley Steve. They wont be the cheapest but they do try their damnedest to get what you want when you want it.....about a 20-30 min drive during the day from central london and almost opposite the Tube station on northern line. Tel 0208 883 61522 - I am only up the road, if you want me to call them and get prices & availability on saturday, leave a message or pm me. ;)

Alternatively, a wander along Tottenham Court Rd should get you sorted, Kingsley Photographic or similar ahould have everything you want ;)
 
Ladylens, another East Finchley-er? Nice to meet you! Glad to see someone pushing Gemini too, it's a nice shop (if you excuse the Nikon fetish ;) )

But sssshh, don't tell everyone how nice it is here, they'll all want to come!

I wouldn't, Steve: if you get a 5D in the UK, Canon Spain may not honor the warranty.

:D Yep, well, up the high road in whetstone, but Gemini is nearest local shop....and being a Nikon owner.... :whistling:
 
Thanks for the advice and offers of help - Ladylens, i am tempted to try Gemini just to be close to where you live and with the dream of bumping into you..!
I am going to head into the New Oxford Street area after a few calls this morning to see what anyone has in stock and then see how long my credit card can resist...
As for Nikon - well, I used to have some, but then...
