Where does everyone keep their equipment? especially when not in use. Does anyone keep it in a secure cabinet under lock and key. Reason I ask is I am under heightened security alert (bloody paranoid) after being broken into at home. Fortunately nothing was taken as they didn’t go upstairs but has just made me think.

Cheers

John

Locked metal cabinet...well I have a lockable metal cabinet, but usually the camera bag is in the corner of the living-room...

Out of sight but not locked away.

All in one cubboard which doesn't have locks.

TBH it's insured and if someone breaks into my house there are far more important things to worry about than electronics and glass.

it isn't secured or locked away, but my camera would make a bloody good weapon against intruders...

Rob, surround by land mines and remote activated explosives when you are at work? :D

No just my girlfriend...
...and the World-Famous Lobster-Pirhana Security Systems fence around the perimeter...

All over the place

Pretty much...

I try and keep as much of it as I can stored on a shelf in my room, although normally the only stuff on it is stuff I never use...

Hah! All over the place too! Think my camera is currently sitting on the couch. But I live on the 8th floor, so unless spider man is passing by I'm sure its safe... although on saying that it shows you how much I trust the neighbours...

Locked in a metal cab is all good if your not at home, but i wouldnt want to be woken up at 3am by people demanding the key id rather they just took it and left

after being broken into and having all our gear nicked I invested in a false ceiling with inner shelves... no key to demand as you would'nt know it was there

Right now camera bag's in a cupboard, when I'm at uni it's normally under my bed :)

what do you mean a false ceiling?

under my dress, no one would look there :)

In my camera bag when not in use

Also photos would be good, along with your address...

Seriously though I've never contemplated locking stuff like that up or hiding it, even when at uni it was just laying around my room (although admittedly I had a small lock on my door).

Normally I leave the camera lying on a coffe table or the sofa, then the wife moves it bag into a bag, then into a cupboard, at which point I'm needing it again so out it comes. Repeat and repeat and repeat..............

Mine stays in a bit blue box under my tv and desk in the bedroom, which has no lock but as has been said, I've got more important things that could be stolen than my camera equipment.

On the floor!

In a bag of course...

well sometimes..

Mine is in the camera bag which is currently sitting on the chair and doubles as a cat bed for Bob the cat.

I do look after my things, honest.

Normally under my desk or in my room or anywhere else around the house for that matter! You got me thinking about it though, I will be more careful now.

Pretty much the same as that, or in the spare room with the rest of my kit, just really depends what i'm doing.

I'm thinking of having 2 of them and keep one in a different location.

I've seen a few people on here do that, to be honest i wouldn't know where else to put another hard drive, could take it to my brothers i guess, but then when/if i need it, it just means i have to go around there, i honestly think their may be a bit of paranoia surrounding things like this, if something is going to happen it's going to happen, but that's just my take on it :)

My cameras sit on my desk in my home office most of the time.

Between our bedroom and the office, at the wife's insistence, we have 4 handguns and a sawn off shotgun, all loaded.

Only in Texas!
:bang:

I am sure there is a correlation between the amount I use my camera, the amount I tidy up (never) and the distance between the sum of the parts.

Mine's pretty safe in case of burglary because I have taken to keeping it with a variety of incompetent repair companies who simply bumble it around between them.

It has its downsides, though. I can't use it, for example.

On my floor in bags - already not all of my kit will fit in my bag unless stupidly tightly packed!

I have my brother and dad, both 6+ and a 80lb or so, very protective golden retriever, any burgler with an ounce of sense will run.

In a field buried with lots of silica gel
Now 10 paces to the right and was it 4 to the left ?
