Where do you live.. If youre happy :-)

You seem unsure, you could always consider a barge and go up and down the canals!

Have to say my parents sold up, bought a narrow boat and did this 8 years ago and they absolutely love it, the only way you can stay in the heart of London for 2 weeks for free:)

You could buy West Lothian for that sort of money :D

Having said that, I've heard it's t'grim up north :naughty:

It's lovely up here I'll have you know :p

A little cold at times, but so close to some beautiful scenery and stuck nicely between Edinburgh and Glasgow not as isolated as some might think - you can get anywhere in the world from a Scottish airport :D

I recommend Whickham-ish in Gateshead - middle class (for the north) area - close to Durham fells, Northumberland coast, Hadrian's wall, loads of castles, big city centre with metrocentre, lots and lots to do, lovely people. Or even Durham itself...

also close to Edinburgh and the borders, Lakes, York, Richmond, Leeds etc etc - can't do better - and if they had some jobs I'd be back there like a shot!

Bath, and I absolutely love it! Ideal mix between city and town, it's so nice and people seem more polite than most places. Bit expensive but a small 3 bed would be under £200k
