Where do you get your gear?

Try a PM to Kerso on this forum, he sells canon stuff at good prices.

canon 20d - a guy called dave off POTN 2nd hand
sigma 70-200 - camera king (good service from what i remember)
sigma 18-50 - bristol cameras (reasonable service took ages to arrive)
sigma 120-300 - ebay 2nd hand
canon 580mk2 - ebay store
bags and accessories - warehouse express

cheapest isnt necessarily best.. id do some googling and some searching for reviews and get the best combination of price and reputation.

It changes all the time, where I bought my gear last year isn't the cheapest this year. Ebay can be cheap but it's risky and some people seem to think it's a competition and bid over the odds.

I've been checking prices here and they are quite reasonable but there is always a risk for second hand. Maybe you should state what lens you are looking for and see if someone here can help you out.

I used Martins Camera Shop for my Canon 10-22 with no problems and they were the cheapest at the time but used Warehouse Express for my nifty fifty because they were cheaper for that lens. I took a risk on e-bay for my bigma but checked the considerable feedback on the seller who said it was new and mint and it was.

All distance purchases are risky but you can minimise this by thouroghly checking them out.
You have to think of worst case scenario, if you buy from Hong Kong and there's a problem will you be left with costs of sending the item back that sort of thing.

The golden rule is - If it looks too good to be true it probably is.

Happy hunting

Just heading over the other side of Scotland to pick up a 50d and a nifty fifty from Kerso...I have also ordered a 17-50mm Tamron from www.onestop-digital.com I have heard nothing but good reports about both and if you are in no rush can give you some feedback near the end of the week...when hopefully my lens is delivered...

If you are interested PM me later in the week...

i use mifsuds.com. there gear is very well priced and there customer service is second to none in mho and they are only ten minuits from where i live:)

another vote for crazycameras they have always been good for me.

Clifton Cameras, great service and they have always priced matched prices I have seen on other websites.

You can also phone them and get answered in under 10seconds, with someone who knows what they are talking about on the end of the phone ;)

i've bought from WHE,cameraworld, cardiff camera centre, morris photo, and have always had a good deal/great service from them all...with cardiff camera centre knocking £200 off my latest aquisition, and are happy to price match any UK stuff

Bought most of my new kit from Kerso. Only stuff I haven't are my Sigma lenses.

I got my A200 and 18-70mm kit lens from Cardiff Camera Centre (ebay)
28mm Minolta Prime from someone on Ebay
Tamron 18-200mm from Warehouse Express
Sony A700 from Currys
Case from Ebay

Most of my stuff has been from ebay tbh!

Jessops, because I hate waiting for stuff in the post and enjoy the tingly sensation of being penetrated by the shop assistant over the extortionate price.

Also, London Camera Exchange is pretty decent. They hold good stock and they also price match the internet.
