No
I only ask this because I was in Jessops today and witnessed a couple buying:

Sony Alpha SLR with kit lens
Zoom lens
Bag
Memory card
Monopod
2x filters (at £15 a shot!)
Lens cleaning cloth

I can understand buying an slr if it was cheap, but this is Jessops I'm talking about and in my experience they have never been cheap!! I could almost see the ££££ signs in the eyes of the guy who was serving them

Got me thinking- do you buy all of your gear from 1 specific shop or do you find the best prices? I tend to support our local camera shop when I can, buy memory cards/filters/odds and sods from the likes of 7dayshop and 2nd hand gear from Park Cameras or London Camera Exchange...

cheapest internet after checking feedback
usually amazon

On the whole......Jessops - they've consistently been cheapest for Nikon bodies and flashguns and are usually near enough the same price for Manfrotto stuff....

I try and support my local shop when ever I can, get a good discount in there, for major purchases, any oddments or random things what ever web site I can find them on or good old fleabay

The only things I have that were bought new are the 50mm f/1.8 and my flash, both came from Kerso on here.
The rest was all bought second hand, 2 lenses came from Fixation, one came from on here along with other bits and pieces, cameras were second hand and one of my bags was second hand - I can't remember where the other one came from

Wherever I can get the best value for me.
Oh and when I get a price I go see if Jessops will price match. Never been turned down yet.

2nd hand from here - why pay new when you can get mint kit that's been in the bottom of a bag for a few months at a big saving

Same as. Totally agree.

Jessops are selling the 24-105mm F4 L IS USM for, wait for it....................

£959

I got mine from a jolly nice fella on here for £625. I promise you wouldn't know the difference between it and a brand new one.
Well the difference I spose is the warranty.
But it ain't worth that much!!

Pretty much brought all my stuff from Warehouse Express, generally one of the cheapest and good customer support (if you phone), good for returns etc too.

Bought my camera (D90 + lens) new from Jessops but that was because I had an insurance voucher to use :)

Otherwise buy from here, great stuff, reasonable costs and good reputation, if i cant find what i want on here, look local or at Amazon.

Not sure how much support you are giving the local shop if you get a good discount. Surely if ethics are your priority, paying the RRP is the best way to keep it in business.

I have a business and the local camera shop has never supported me, so until they do, I will be buying cheapest (as they probably do).

A mix between Jessops for impulse buys, Warehouse express and 7Day shop for batteries.

Jessops are just as competitive as anyone else, you just have to get them at the right time.

Usually buy all my kit from Warehouse Express as they are local to me ,but i have recently started using Stuart at Digital Depot. Service is Great and prices far cheaper than most others.

buy from here, jessops or 7dayshop mainly unless find items cheaper elsewhere!

As you can see, majority of my purchases are from Jessops. The rest I scout around and find out which is cheapest.

Have bought all my SLR's and DSLR's from Jessops. Always find there prices to be not sooooo bad, and they're always willing to do a deal if your spending a few £££'s. Would never spend much over the best www price though. Memory, accessories and bags - usually cheapest online place after researching how good they are. As for glass then anywhere I can; here, high street shops or eBay (with caution). Oh and my favourite place I found last time I was in New York - the Adorma store!

The majority of my stuff has come from Jessops to be fair...

I bought my Olympus E420 from Argos as they had the best deal on at the time
The 40-150mm lens and 35mm macro came from Jessops as they were the cheapest
The Lowepro Slingshot 200AW Jessops too (cheapest at the time)

My Canon 500D came from there as well, although they weren't the cheapest (and certainly not the most expensive either) but they'd just slashed the price of the Sigma 105 and I wanted one, so got the camera from there at the same time.

I have also used Warehouse Express - they may not be the cheapest but the service is superb.

Basically, I'll check CameraPriceBuster and then decide from there!

Camera from John Lewis (was much better priced than Jessops / PC world / Currys in the same shopping center)
Sigma 70-300 from Bristol Cameras (best price and had to go to Bristol on business)
Canon 55-250 from buyacamera, £70 cheaper the my local Jessops
Some other equipment from Warehouse Express, in both Buyacamera and W/Express, I phoned my order and to check stock, delivered before noon next day,
Small items, filters and the likes I go into Jessops

All over the place......

Dale Photographic Leeds, good service fair prices

I buy a lot of my gear from Robert White, not always the cheapest but the customer service is always first class, I have also brought from Jessops, T4 cameras in Newbury and LCE, have had good customer service from all of them.

From here seems a good reliable source of Bargins generally! - if not various internet sites.

D90 from Calumet in Liverpool (only place that had one in stock at the time), nifty from Kerso and the rest from the good folk of TP (Nikon 60mm, Sigma 24-60mm, Nikon 18-70mm, Sigma 70-300mm) and I haven't one word of complaint. Every single thing I have bought from here has been like new.
Why go anywhere else.

Cheers

Andy

Majority of my kit has come from ebay! I bid on a lot and waited until I got some good bargains. I only ever had to send a couple of items back which I wasn't to happy about, but the sellers were apologetic and very helpful.

Seriously the stuff I do actually buy (17-35mm f/2.8 Nikkor and 28-70mm f/2.8 Nikkor, Nikon F5, SB80) all comes from Warehouse Express...never had a problem with them...

Ebay, 7 Day Shop, Nova Darkroom, Retro Photographic and PolaPremium

Everything I own has come from Warehouse Express, with the exception of my tripod and 85mm 1.8 which were both purchased from members here in the Classifieds section.

DigitalRev for my first round of buying (D200,D40x, 18-200vr, 105vr, 50mm, sb600, sb800 and a few bits), buyacamera (D60) and now Digital Depot (D700, 24-70 & D300 at the end of the month).

You need to look at all the small print when buying and at the moment a Nikon pro dealer is giving a whole load of discount vouchers with every purchase so with this in mind it saves even more money.

My biggest purchase was from WarehouseExpress (I've only placed two orders) since they offered next day delivery on the items I wanted.

I also used Clifton Cameras for my Crumpler bag.

Jessops seem to do good prices on bodies but I wouldn't buy anything else from them

I've bought from Camerabox in the past and used Amazon as well. But for the last 6 months or so I've bought most of my stuff from the classifieds section on here. With the price of new Canon stuff rocketing up over the last year or so there just isn't really any point in buying brand new for me when I can find the same items on here that have been looked after and cared for in the same way that I look after my stuff.
