hi

im brand new to the site, very little photography experience with anything better than a average digital camera!
I guess you all started somewhere though...

what equipment do you recommend? im prepared for the high prices, that isn't the issue!

obviously different lenses are needed so what is good to start with?

cheers John

i would say landscapes and portraits interest me most andre

i dont have a camera yet except a cybreshot digital one i use for holiday snaps!

ive been advised to get a cannon?

Bit like saying I want to buy a car...... You will get lots of help on here but as Andrew says we need to know what you are interested in and your budget!

if price is no issue, why not have a look at the Nikon D700, its full frame and very good at low light shooting... or the cheaper D90, an excellent entry level camera..

If you don't want to splash too much, you could look at a bridge camera.

The Fuji HS10 is less than £400, has 28mm-600mm range, will do hd video and also macro shooting as well.

It would be a good place to start as you can take good shots without spending loads on lenses to cover focal range and then when you have decided what you like shooting work out which dslr suits your needs most, and then commit the cash.

Like others have said, the best kit (D3, Nikon 2.8 lenses) can set you back over £10k... But guess you are looking for more realistic options.

I dont think there is that much difference between Nikon and Canon, a lot will be to do with how you find the feel and how they operate but as I Nikon user know little about Canon. I would say the D700 is a great camera as it is good at pretty much everything, then you have the D300s which is cheaper and a good camera although not as good at high ISO and is not ff. The D90 I would say is the lowest you should go, great ISO capability and motorised AF unlike cheaper ones.

The most important thing to remember is to spend on the lens. It's great to have an amazing camera, but it's no good without the right glass.
