Yes
I dont normally bother after about the 2nd January. I still hear people saying it to people they've not yet seen/spoken to this year though.
If someone turns up in February you havent seen yet this year, do you still wish them HNY?

Nope... and if someone says it to you in Feb tell them to shush it and stamp on their feet:D

New Years Day.

In the same way I wouldn't wish a person "Happy Birthday" when I see them a month or 2 after their birthday.

3 minutes after the London fireworks have finished on the telly for the NYE celebrations.

And I'd have everyone arrested that starts finishing a conversation 'happy Christmas' in November. I'd make an awesome King.

When I worked on rotation offshore, it was not uncommon to exchange New Year greetings in March. If on leave, it could be the start of a party.

Best plan is to do what makes you feel right when it comes to friends and family and whoever and take what others do with good grace and say little about the poorer approach to the new year.:)

Happy New Year Everyone!! may it be peaceful and prosperous and may it also bring the desires of your hearts:banana:

First week of Jan. You may not get to see some people on NYE or if working with the public, it's nice to wish them a new year.

Depends. People who don't get seen or spoken to very often can get wished HNY at the first opportunity but after Jan 31 it seems a bit late IMO.

Only 1 response from Scotland so far and March is the cut-off date. :) Got to say that the tradition up here is for the first contact with colleagues in the new year, but I'd say it is fading out now that we're back at work for 2 weeks and I'd think it's pretty much over (for onshore workers) this weekend. OTOH, I know someone who works offshore in Angola, so who knows when the new year will be?

People who do it that late are in the group who want to shake hands every time they meet you. PITA's

Two minutes after entering the pub at lunchtime on the 2nd Jan.

You are a complete and utter b'stard, Rich! :bat:
Let me correct you there Heather. I am an illegitimate son of an illegitimate son. That makes me :D

Soon be New Year at end of this month...year of the horse. Happy New Year everyone.
