When you first got into DSLR photography...

Me too!
We are not going to get into an arguement about teams / driver are we? :)
I'm a devout Maclaren fan and you can probably guess which driver I am rooting for in the championship :D

Have to admit i'm a fan of one of there drivers - bet its not the same one though.

I'm a big fan of them both, Hamilton since he made that 3 a breast move in that GP2 support race at Silverstone a few years back (and then met him later that year when we blagged our way into the Silverstone paddock at his first F1 test session) and a big big fan of Heikkis thanks to him wiping the floor not once, but twice against Schumacher at the Race Of Champions in Paris 4 or 5 years ago :woot: Going on his performance that night though I had high hopes for him in F1, but have been so dissapointed so far

Firstly I trawled through magazines and the internet to see which would be a good camera for me. Limited budget and all that - you know the score

Eventually I plumped for the Sony Alpha 200 with 18-70 kit lens. And you know what?

I like it

I did things a little back to front!

I joined the forum a proud owner of a Canon S3, a great megazoom camera, but became very interested in lenses, from what I've read there is very little to choose between bodies.

I was fatally tempted by a Canon 70-200 f4L on the "for sale" forum & so I owned a lens before having a body for it!

Obviously this meant I needed a Canon so I bought a 40d & I'm very pleased with both, plus the stuff I've added since;)

Btw I'm also a big McLaren fan

I started off small, GX10 and twin lens kit which has kept me satisfied for a year so far! I would like to replace them with quality glass, but I'm a poor student and can't really afford to :(

Since getting the camera I've bought a polariser, gorillapod and remote shutter release, as well as a couple more SD cards. If I had the money I'd get a decent flashgun, a macro lens and some DA* replacements for the 18-55 and 50-200 - but they might be a few more years yet!

I was given the 450d and kit lens for my Birthday in June. Within a week I added the 55-250, an OM mount adapter giving me OM fit, 24, 50 and 70-200, and a set of ebay extension tubes. I already had some SD cards, but needed some more and now have about 15Gb's worth. I also bought a Manfrotto monopod and a cheapy Manfrotto tripod (half price at Currys). And a crumpler 7500 XXXL bag. Now I want something like a 28-135 or a 17-80 and a decent macro lens. I'd also really like a 560mm APO telescope and a 1500mm Maksutov telescope, both with appropriate camera fittings of course :D , it all just costs so much money...

You lot make me feel so old. Canon 10D five years ago. I still have it, sitting in a drawer after being replaced by a 5D two and a half years ago. I sometimes toy around with the idea of getting it converted to infra red. The 10D has produced some pictures which even now give the 5D a good run for the money. The first lens I bought for it was a Sigma 28-300 but it took me a fair while to realise that it was an appalling lens.

My very first digital camera was a Casio QV-7000SX bought in 1998 in Singapore. It was a 1mp and cost me........wait for it.........£650. I thought it was wonderful. It died under warranty and Casio UK swapped it for the newly released 2000. Last year I found a 7000 on ebay and bought it for £40 - a nostalgia thing. I can't believe how awful it is and how I was so entranced by it. The screen refresh rate is so slow I can draw quicker. But it sits on my camera shelf with my Zenith B, Chinon CE5, Chinon CP7, Pentax SFX, Olympus OM1 and OM2, plus a few others - film and digital.

I've only been into this photography a year, started off with a powershot G7, then a 400D, 18-200mm Sigma, and in the last 4 months,a 40D, 85mm f1.8, nifty fifty, and soon a tripod!!

I started with the fuji S6500, then got a D40x, then needed more range ro i got a 18-135 lens. Now i have just upgraded to a D200 and ordeded a speed light and looking at getting some faster glass

Started off by buying the 400D Twin lens Kit, came with a Tamron 55-200 and the kit lens, pretty soon afetr I bought a Sigma 70-300mm EX DG APO off these lovely forums. That lasted about 6 months then i got really bitten and expanded my kit accordingly.
It's safe to say there is always a bit of kit I think I need but what i have already will do me for know, or at least until I get some more money :naughty:

You still don't have a tripod??

:P

No, i only had 2 lenses for years, a 50 1.8 and a 28-105 MKII, with the DSLR i got the kit lens and then the Tamron 17-50 2.8.

Sold all my lenses bar the Tamron at the moment, the others over lapped way too much.

I started about 2 and a half years ago with a 300D and kit lens....and borrowed 75-300!

Then I got bought a 400D, and bought myself a 100- 400L, a few months after a 30D came along!! Next up was a 580EX flash unit.

Then decided to sell the 100-400 for a 70 - 200 2.8 IS and a 2x extender, and eventually bought a 1D MKII and sold the 400D!

Not a bad progression in 2 years 6 months!

I started with a Canon EF 28-105mm f3.5 - 4.5.

About 6 months later, I got the camera (30D) !

i went out and got a D40X as a starter with the kit lens, i then got a 55-200 after a while then sold that for a 70-300 VR, i then got the 18-135 as a walkabout and used that for a while

then decided to get alittle serious so got the 100-300F4 then thought it best to upgrade camera to so splashed out on a D200 then grip. once i had tha i got a 17-70 and after a week sold it back to the lad i got it off and got a sigma 24-60 to, had a sigma 10-20 in that time to which i sold and another 17-70
